We are looking for a purchasing and logistics admin to join our clients wider logistics team, the role will offer further growth and development as the company expands KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ? Support the Logistics Manager with import, export, cross-trade and direct shipments where required. ? Assist with arranging shipments by sea, air, road or rail, depending on business requirements. ? Liaise with freight forwarders, agents and logistics providers to help coordinate collections, deliveries and shipment progress. ? Support the movement of goods into the UK from European, Far East and other overseas suppliers. ? Support export shipments from John King UK to international customers. ? Assist with direct shipments from supplier to customer where applicable. ? Help obtain transport prices and compare freight options to support cost-effective shipment decisions. ? Track import, export and direct shipments and help maintain accurate shipping logs. ? Liaise with warehouse staff to coordinate collection and delivery dates. ? Support the preparation, checking and organisation of shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, collection notes and other relevant documents. ? Support customs clearance activity by liaising with brokers, agents and freight forwarders where required. ? Assist with ex-works shipments where customers arrange their own transport and collect from John King premises. ? Support communication with Sales and Accounts regarding shipment status, delivery information and invoicing requirements. ? Support the Purchasing team with purchase order progression from placement through to final delivery. ? Obtain, check and record supplier order confirmations, including delivery dates, quantities, part details and drawing revisions where applicable. ? Chase UK and overseas suppliers to ensure orders are progressed in line with business requirements. ? Monitor supplier order progress and highlight delays, changes or risks to the relevant internal teams. ? Support the resolution of delivery issues and follow up on overdue or outstanding supplier orders. ? Update Sage / MRP with accurate delivery dates, shipment progress, transport method and destination details where applicable. ? Attend weekly production meetings where required, supporting Purchasing with order updates and supplier feedback. ? Communicate closely with Production, Planning, Sales, Warehouse, Quality and Accounts to align priorities and manage delivery expectations. ? Keep supplier order and shipment documentation organised for audit, reference and internal traceability. ? Work to and promote company procedures, ISO 9001:2015 expectations and relevant health, safety and customs requirements. ? Provide holiday cover and general support for the Logistics Manager and Purchasing team once the appropriate level of training has been completed. ? Any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of Group Supply Chain & Quality. REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS ? Previous experience in administration, purchasing, logistics, order management or supply chain support would be beneficial, but full training will be provided where required. ? Proficient in using a PC, including Excel, Word, Outlook and general business systems. ? Good communication skills, including confidence when dealing with internal departments and external contacts. ? Excellent organisation and attention to detail. ? Ability to chase, follow up and close out actions in a timely manner. ? Ability to maintain accurate records and update business systems correctly. ? Good understanding of priorities, deadlines and the importance of clear communication. ? Willingness to learn purchasing, logistics, import, export and general supply chain processes. ? Teamwork, teamwork and teamwork. DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS ? Experience in purchasing, expediting or supplier order management. ? Experience in logistics, imports, exports or general freight coordination. ? Experience dealing with UK and overseas suppliers. ? Understanding of import and export processes, including Europe and the Far East. ? Familiarity with freight forwarders, shipping documentation, incoterms or customs processes. ? Experience using Sage or MRP systems. ? Manufacturing / engineering experience. Monday to Friday with an early finish every Friday Salary up to £33k DOE TPBN1_UKTJ
