Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Cleaning Operative on a part-time, permanent basis. \n Reporting to: Deputy Head of Facilities Services (Cleaning) \n Main purpose of the Cleaning Operative role: To maintain a high standard of cleanliness across all assigned areas, helping to provide a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors. \n Cleaning Operative General Duties and Responsibilities: \n\n • Assisting with keeping designated areas clean, including hallways, floors, toilets, showers and classrooms as examples.\n, • Using the cleaning equipment and materials to carry out duties safely. This may include diluting and using cleaning chemicals, as instructed following COSHH regulations.\n, • Operating cleaning machinery in accordance with instructions and within Health & Safety guidelines and to keep such machinery in a clean and safe condition, reporting faults to the Deputy Head of Facilities Services (Cleaning).\n, • Carrying out emergency cleaning as required – this may be as a result of accidents or sickness as examples.\n, • Reporting defects, such as faulty plugs or fuses to your supervisor.\n, • Taking appropriate Health & Safety precautions, where necessary, whilst carrying out required duties, thereby ensuring the personal safety of all staff, pupils and visitors.\n, • Responding to any other reasonable management request.\n\n Cleaning Operative Person Specification: \n The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas: \n\n • Physical fitness, encompassing the ability to bend, stretch, lean, reach and carry heavy, awkward items.\n, • Good verbal and written communication skills.\n, • Punctual, reliable and trustworthy.\n, • Good time management skills.\n, • The ability to work both alone and in a team.\n, • A polite, friendly and helpful attitude.\n, • The ability to speak confidently and courteously to parents, pupils and staff at all levels of seniority.\n, • Awareness of health and safety procedures.\n, • The ability to read and understand written instructions.\n, • Some of your work could be physically demanding and involve lifting. You may also need to work at heights using ladders.\n, • In-house cleaning training will be provided to NVQ level 2 standards.\n\n Hours of Work: \n Monday to Friday, 4.00pm to 7.00pm (15 hours per week). \n Remuneration: \n The salary for this role will be £10,530 per annum. This is at the rate of £13.50 per hour. \n Holidays
