Job Description: The Commodity Lead is part of a service-oriented, Shared Services team that creates sustainable competitive advantage for ProAmpac and its customers. In this role, the incumbent will work collaboratively with stakeholders to consistently develop socially responsible, cost effective and innovative supply management solutions that are aligned to our customers’ changing needs. The incumbent will be responsible for leading and implementing the sourcing/procurement of one, or several, major commodity spends, (i.e. Resins, Films and other assigned commodities) for ProAmpac to achieve improvements in total cost of ownership, working capital and business financial goals. The incumbent will use a structured strategic sourcing process to drive the activities involved in supplier discovery, supplier selection, and supplier development and supplier relationship management. This role involves working closely with cross functional teams to achieve strategic sourcing objectives for the commodities. Ensures that co-workers are also following safety rules. • Commitment, awareness and involvement pertaining to ISO (policy, standards, procedures, etc.) and food safety practices (GMPs, procedures, etc.) are requirements of all employees., • Develops, documents and communicates commodity sourcing strategies and action plans that are aligned to the organization’s business objectives and based on a deep understanding of the commodity supply markets., • Responsible for executing the Strategic Sourcing Process and ensuring consistent application across all key assigned commodities., • Develop and execute plans based on key sourcing levers (Global Sourcing, Best Price Evaluation, Volume Aggregation, and Value Engineering/Value Analysis) that deliver improvements in Total Cost of Ownership or Total Landed Cost., • Negotiates supply contracts that meet the business needs including terms, pricing, volume agreements, inventory management strategies, competitive benchmarks, performance, and annual cost reductions., • Works with cross functional team members to develop and manage supplier relationships in order to obtain the best value in terms of quality, service, innovation and cost. Monitors and manages supplier performance using clearly defined objectives and metrics., • Champions the development of risk analysis, assessment and mitigation plans that minimize service disruptions to the customer. This includes monitoring and managing material supply to protect against short term disruptions, ensuring that the supply base has capacity to meet ProAmpac’s highest short-term requirements and long-term growth needs, and negotiating effective inventory/service programs with the supply base., • Works collaboratively with Product Development, Sales, Quality and Manufacturing in sourcing new raw materials and selection of new suppliers to support new growth initiatives., • Provides timely forecast for key commodities and market outlook to keep organization informed of key cost changes; tracks variations from annual forecast process., • Liaise with Global Sourcing Team Leads to focus opportunity for Global-scale procurement, where it is suitable., • To present benefits and opportunities clearly to Procurement Leadership, gaining approval and sign off from Sourcing Leadership of new contracts., • To work with Finance Optimization Team to present savings achieved and engage when requested over monitoring savings tracked., • Secure NDA’s where appropriate, and wholistic approach to ensuring correct protection of ProAmpac sensitive data., • To liaise with ProAmpac’s Legal Department over Contractual Terms, working with Procurement Director to ensure most beneficial terms for ProAmpac., • Proactively establishes and implements countermeasures to address negative market trends and missed performance objectives., • Works with our Quality Department and our suppliers to establish better supplier relationships and improve product performance., • Works with cross functional teams, both internal and internal/external, to facilitate process and procedures that support the organizations goals., • Demonstrates appropriate attitude in all dealings with coworkers, customers, and suppliers., • To have long term viewpoint of Sourcing/Procurement, building upon strategic partnerships highlighted by Leadership Team from a Global perspective., • Other duties as assigned., • Strong leadership and persuasive communication skills, • Solid operational management and general business skills, • Strong negotiation skills to use for large commercial deals, • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office), • Familiarity with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk, • Strategic mindset and problem-solving skills, • Knowledge of enterprise risk management and business continuity planning, • Analytical mindset, but also creativity to seek, encourage and find non-traditional approaches that have historically “boxed-in” procurement, • Bias for action, results orientation Qualifications: • University Bachelors degree preferred, (BA) or alternatively our University partnership programs., • 3 – 5 years demonstrated knowledge and experience in sourcing a major commodity group, or procurement role, • Purchasing Order System experience (e.g. Ariba, SAP, Oracle)., • C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manager) certification or Equivalent preferred., • Ability to travel 15 – 25% of the time, nationally or internationally as required.
