The Yacht is in Royal Victoria Dock just opposite Excel London Core Objectives Carry out skilled DIY & general maintenance work involved in all aspects of onsite building maintenance, both internal and external. The role includes general building DIY and maintenance including basic carpentry, plumbing, replacement of tiling, flooring, and painting and decorating. This will also include regular checks and assessments of both private and public areas, liaising with Line Manager and other team members, performing jobs as and when they are required. Main Tasks/Duties and Responsibilities Day to day responsibilities Installation inspections, diagnosing faults, testing, replacement, repair and maintenance of building fixtures and fittings. General plumbing including washers, taps, unblocking toilets, unblocking stacks, installing new sinks, urinals and toilets, pipework (copper or PVC) General carpentry such as hanging doors, new locks, architraves, window frames, boxing in, assembling furniture, easing, and adjusting windows, replacing handles and similar hardware. General tiling – floors and walls Flooring work, such as carpet tiles General painting & decorating Day to day care and maintenance of the garden buildings Regularly inspecting garden structures and undertaking minor repairs or advising Line Manager of any need to replace/rebuild. General garden carpentry such as assembling and maintaining furniture, replacing handles and similar hardware. Identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair; to ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, working practices, health and safety. Liaising with Line Manager and other team members and performing jobs as and when they are required. Carry out planned tasks in accordance with contract requirements. Carry out tasks within specified time limits. Ensure compliance to applicable codes, legislation and procedures including health and safety. Maintain accurate records/documentation associated with your work. Report to Line Manager Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organisation and/or its clients/customers to Line Manager Meet your targets and contribute to those of the team as a whole. Contribute towards the efficient running of the team. Adhere to all organisation policies and procedures. From time to time, you may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role. You are responsible for your allocated workload and must meet all targets as agreed with your Line Manager. You must contribute towards the smooth running of the organisation generally. Hours/Days Your usual hours will be from 9:00 to 17:00, Tuesdays to Thursdays and from 08:30 to 19:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. However, you will be expected to work as and when necessary to meet the needs of the team and your targets.
