Project Manager South of Cambridge | Hybrid (3 days onsite) £50,000 to £60,000 DOE I’m working with a specialist engineering business just south of Cambridge that designs, builds and deploys advanced electronic systems used in demanding, real-world environments worldwide. This is not a pure “process PM” role. It’s suited to someone with a genuine electronics background who understands how hardware is developed, tested, integrated and delivered. Their products combine PCB design, embedded systems, RF, power, networking and sensor integration into robust, field-deployed platforms. The projects are technically detailed and require someone who can speak the language of engineers. The Role You’ll take ownership of customer projects from order through to delivery, acting as the technical and commercial lead throughout the lifecycle. You will: • Lead delivery of complex electronic hardware and system integration projects, • Work closely with electronics, embedded software and mechanical engineering teams, • Interface directly with technically competent customers, • Oversee system integration, validation and production readiness, • Manage risk, budgets, documentation and delivery schedules, • Support engineering change and configuration control processes This role would suit someone who has either moved from an electronics engineering background into project delivery, or an existing Technical PM who has remained close to hardware and systems engineering. What We’re Looking For • Degree in Electronics Engineering or closely related discipline, • Experience delivering electronic hardware, embedded systems or integrated platforms, • Strong understanding of the electronics development lifecycle from concept through to production, • Comfortable discussing PCB design, system architecture, integration and test, • Proven experience managing technical risk and cross-functional engineering teams, • Structured, organised and confident with documentation and reporting Experience in defence, surveillance, RF systems, sensor technology or other complex electronic environments would be beneficial. If you come from an electronics background and want to stay close to the engineering while taking ownership of full project delivery, this could be a strong fit.
