Part-Time General Manager – HR & Facilities Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire Contract Type: Part Time – 24 hours per week (typically 3 days per week; flexibility available) Salary: £29,000 per annum (pro rata for 24 hours) Reports to: Managing Director / Board Role Purpose My client is seeking an experienced Part-Time General Manager to oversee Facilities Management (70%), Human Resources (20%), and ad-hoc operational management (10%). This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring the business operates safely, compliantly, and efficiently, while supporting employees and senior leadership. Key Responsibilities Facilities Management (Approx. 70%) • Day-to-day management of site facilities, ensuring safety and compliance, • Oversight of building maintenance, repairs, and planned preventative maintenance, • Management of health & safety compliance, including risk assessments and audits, • Primary liaison with external contractors and service providers, • Management of facilities budgets, utilities, and service contracts, • Ensuring compliance with UK health, safety, and environmental legislation, • Oversight of fire safety, emergency planning, and business continuity, • Maintaining site standards, security, and access control, • Oversight of HR operations and employment policies, • Management of employee relations, including absence, disciplinary, and grievance matters, • Advising managers on UK employment law and HR best practice, • Coordination of recruitment and onboarding, • Oversight of training, development, and compliance training, • Maintenance of HR records and GDPR compliance, • General management support to senior leadership, • Support for cross-departmental operational matters, • Contribution to continuous improvement initiatives Essential • Proven experience in a General Manager, Facilities Manager, Operations Manager, or similar role, • Strong facilities management background, • Working knowledge of UK employment law, • Good understanding of health & safety legislation, • Ability to work autonomously in a part-time role, • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification, • CIPD Level 3 or above

Key responsibilities include: • Reporting to the Construction Manager, the successful Senior Site Manager will manage the delivery of projects safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality., • Leadership and people management, • Maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management., • Implement project strategies to achieve the company’s sustainability objectives., • Establish standards of quality on-site and ensure delivery of a quality build in accordance with the project specifications and project requirements., • Understand the client priorities and adopt a professional and considerate approach to maintain good working relations., • Implement the supply chain policy., • Adopt the principles of the Considerate Constructor’s Scheme and manage community relations. Ensure appropriate site image is maintained to encourage repeat business., • Produce and develop project programmes and control operations to achieve delivery of the project on time. Organise the works and supply chain to provide the right working environment to avoid disruption between trades., • Undertake the works in the most economical manner to eliminate waste and avoid non-recoverable costs and preliminary losses. Monitor and work to the agreed preliminary budget., • Maintain continuous professional development to ensure appropriate technical awareness., • Comply with standard procedures, • Manage project handover and ensure defect / snag-free completion., • Support the strategy for the closure of defects during the defects period and obtain a certificate of Making Good Defects within targets set. Essential and Desirable Criteria • Proven track record of successfully delivering construction projects as part of a wider team, • The ability to read and accurately interpret programmes, drawings and technical specifications, • Understanding and appropriately sharing build programmes, • Managing the supply chain, direct employees and consultants, • Proactively liaising with customers and the supply chain, • Minimum relevant level 4 qualification (HNC/NVQ4 etc) or equivalent, • Appropriate CSCS card, • SMSTS certificate, • First Aid at Work certificate Additional Information We reward our people generously with a competitive package that gives you flexible benefits to fit your lifestyle and priorities.
