Great Howarth School is a bright and modern independent specialist day school providing high-quality education for boys and girls. Based in Rochdale, the school has recently undergone a major refurbishment and now includes a brand-new primary school building. Across both sites, we meet the diverse needs of pupils aged 7-18 with a range of complex needs, including Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, and Autism. At Great Howarth, we deliver a holistic and bespoke curriculum that offers rich learning experiences, helping young people develop the functional and life skills they need to flourish beyond school. To help us on this journey and to ensure a seamless transition to success we are looking to recruit an experienced Headteacher, who has a deep understanding around SEMH and associated needs, who can motivate and build teams and understands the importance of working collaboratively with stakeholders and the central team to ensure success. The successful applicants will need: A wealth of experience working as a Head Teacher in a similar SEND environment or setting. Have a good understanding about the School Improvement process, effective curriculum models and the development of process, maintain and build your understanding of requirements, helping the school move towards an outstanding rating Have a thorough understanding and knowledge of the Independent School Standards Ability to motivate, drive and support staff and pupils, using a person-centred approach A real ‘can do, will do’ attitude, with the desire to succeed and improve our school Excellent communication and top-quality relationship building skills Hold Qualified Teacher statusWhy work for us?
