We are seeking a landlord-side real estate litigator with strong Housing Court experience who is looking to take the next step, working on more sophisticated matters, advising institutional clients, and expanding beyond high-volume practice into strategy-driven work. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and agreements, including nonpayment and holdover notices and related Housing Court filings., • Independently manage a docket of landlord‑tenant matters in NYC Housing Court, including nonpayment and holdover proceedings from inception through resolution., • Represent landlords, managing agents, investors, and condominium boards in Housing Court, with exposure to related Supreme Court and complex real estate litigation matters., • Appear in court, including arguing motions, conducting hearings and trials, and negotiating settlements and stipulations., • Support broader litigation efforts as needed, including commercial and Supreme Court matters arising from the firm’s practice., • Contribute to business development initiatives, including drafting articles, client alerts, and industry publications., • Comply with all firm policies, procedures, and professional standards., • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the litigation team and client needs. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: • J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school with a strong academic record, • Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing, • Minimum of 2+ years of landlord‑tenant litigation experience in NYC, • Demonstrated strength in motion practice and legal writing; Supreme Court and appellate experience is a plus, • Excellent analytical, research, and negotiation skills, with sound legal judgment, • Strong client management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with sophisticated clients, • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to take ownership of matters and contribute as needed, • Meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a consistent commitment to high-quality work product, • Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize effectively, and operate in a fast-paced environment, • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard legal technology platforms Compensation will be dependent on several factors including but not limited to years of experience involving these roles and responsibilities, portable book of business, years of experience within the industry, education, etc. The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
