Job DescriptionSalary: Summary of Functions: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Supervisor to support and improve the overall quality management system at MZ-Packaging. This role is ideal for someone who is ready to help build and maintain quality programs from the ground up while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and customer expectations. Major Duties and Responsibilities: • Assist in the development, implementation, and improvement of quality programs to ensure the production of safe, consistent, and high-quality products., • Maintain and oversee existing programs, including the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP), allergen control, sanitation, pest control, and Hold & Release., • Conduct swabbing and routine testing in accordance with EMP protocols., • Perform finished product reviews and releases, ensuring specifications, labeling, and regulatory requirements are met., • Manage documentation systems, including SOPs, batch records, forms, logs, and controlled documents; ensure version control and proper distribution., • Maintain training records and ensure quality-related training is current and documented., • Provide training to personnel on GMPs, food safety, sanitation, and other quality-related procedures and updates., • Submit product samples to external labs, track results, and follow up on out-of-specification findings., • Assist in conducting and updating hazard analyses for raw materials, ingredients, and processes., • Lead or support internal audits and prepare for third-party, customer, and regulatory audits (e.g., FDA, NSF, SQF)., • Support the development and follow-up of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) in response to non-conformances or audit findings., • Manage and update the supplier approval program, including COA/COC review and supplier documentation control., • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, warehouse, maintenance, R&D) to ensure quality practices are implemented and maintained., • Promote and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement through quality data analysis, process reviews, and feedback loops., • Be open and flexible with work hours, including covering QC team absences and supporting operations on other shifts as needed., • Other duties, responsibilities, and additions to this description may be made as necessary to support the evolving needs of the company. Organizational Relationships: Position reports to Quality Manager. The direct reports for this position are Quality Assurance Personnel. Qualifications: • Bachelors degree in food science, Biology, Chemistry, Quality Assurance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)., • 2+ years of experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control role in a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g., food, supplements, cosmetics, or pharmaceuticals)., • Strong working knowledge of cGMP, HACCP, FSMA, FDA, and third-party certification programs (e.g., SQF, NSF, ISO)., • Experience maintaining and executing programs such as EMP, Allergen Control, Sanitation, Pest Control, Hold & Release, and Supplier Approval., • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage documentation systems, including SOPs, forms, logs, and training records., • Familiarity with internal and external audits, including audit readiness and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) response development., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn document control or quality management systems., • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments., • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment., • Willingness to adjust the work schedule, cover team absences, and support quality operations across different shifts as needed. Physical Demands: Occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds. Work Environment: Must be able to work in all areas of the factory as well as office environment and laboratory.
