Job DescriptionCO-OP Restaurant & Lounge is currently seeking a Sous Chef. The ideal candidate is curious and has the desire to constantly increase their knowledge of traditional cooking techniques in a guest-centered service environment. As a Sous Chef, you are directly assisting the Executive Chef and are responsible for the day-to-day culinary operations. These functions include purchasing, preparing, and maintaining a consistent and high-quality product. Responsibilities • Manage all activities in the kitchen, including food preparation, production, as well as management, and training of kitchen staff., • Ensure efficient, cost-effective operation and profitability of food production., • Supervise and inspect all preparation and cooking equipment on a regular basis to ensure that they are kept clean, sanitary and in perfect operating order., • Ensure that food products, presentation and plating are of the highest quality and are prepared to serve in a timely manner., • Assume the role of Executive Chef in their absence., • Maintains high standards for food prep, presentation, and execution., • Monitor holding and storage operations, stocking, food rotation and guarantee food service sanitation standards are met., • High school or GED equivalent required, formal culinary training or associate degree in culinary arts preferred., • Experience: 2+ years' experience in a fine dining or upscale casual environment., • Food Handler certification., • Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures., • Flexibility to work any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidays., • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills., • Proficiency in English required. A second language is desirable., • Strong organizational skills, including follow-up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment., • Ability to positively communicate and interact with all hotel departments., • Ability to lift and or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 50 lbs., • Ability to stand for extended periods of time in an indoor setting., • EOE AA- Minorities/Females/Vet/Disability/Gender Identity/Sexual Orientation.
