Job Summary At VitalCaring, our team members transform lives and foster hope through genuine caring. As a Hospice Aide/CNA, you are a valued member of the interdisciplinary team, providing essential personal care and comfort to patients at the end of life. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you help maintain dignity, ease, and peace for patients and their families. Essential Functions Direct Patient Care • Perform assigned personal care tasks promptly and compassionately; report any tasks you are unable to perform to the Case Manager immediately., • Provide personal hygiene care, including bathing (bed, sponge, tub, shower), back rubs, oral care, shampooing, and linen changes., • Assist with toileting, elimination activities, dressing, and undressing., • Help with ambulation and exercise as instructed by the hospice nurse or therapist., • Offer support with bedpans, urinals, and light laundry needs., • Provide observation and care to prevent skin breakdown, especially over pressure areas., • Prepare nutritious meals and shop for groceries as assigned., • Assist with feeding when needed., • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly patient living environment., • Provide respite to the family/caregiver when appropriate., • Observe and report changes in the patient's condition, mood, or environment to the Case Manager., • Be aware of caregiver dynamics and interpersonal issues within the home., • Communicate with patients and families using respectful, supportive, and professional techniques., • Maintain confidentiality at all times., • Meets all state training requirements., • Completion of at least 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training (16 classroom hours prior to 16 hours of clinical training)., • At least 18 years old; able to read, follow written instructions, and document care., • Understanding of hospice philosophy and comfort working with terminally ill patients., • Demonstrates empathy for individuals who are ill, injured, frail, or impaired., • Satisfactory professional references., • Licensed driver with a reliable, insured automobile., • Successful completion of a probationary period demonstrating competency., • Current CPR certification., • Certified Nursing Assistant credential when required by state regulation.
