Job DescriptionDescription: SUMMARY: As a Clinical Research Patient Navigator, you will play a vital role in connecting patients, caregivers, and patient ambassadors with research opportunities and ensuring a seamless experience from first visit through last study visit. In the role, you will facilitate a collaborative process that supports patients’ participation in clinical trials and full patient journey utilizing services and resources provided by non-profits, advocacy groups, and others. With patient-centricity in mind, both virtual and traditional site visits are available within the study design. You will be responsible for guiding patients through the research process, addressing their concerns by assisting them with necessary resources to navigate their journey and ensure a seamless experience. This role is responsible for patient follow-up, facilitating education and ensuring seamless coordination between patients relevant resources. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Patient Engagement: Educate patients and families about screening area aligned program resources, educational and financial assistance options. Maintain availability to support enrolled patients who have not yet completed study procedures and visits, answering queries, and addressing concerns. Serve as a point of contact for patients, building strong relationships based on trust and empathy., • Lead Contact for Patient Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for patients providing non-clinical guidance and emotional support throughout their participation period demonstrating a thorough understanding of the colorectal cancer screening process., • Tracking Patient Progress: Monitor activity of subset of patients who are not progressing in the patient journey, identify potential delays, trends, or issues and proactively resolve them independently when possible and clearly communicate with supervisor for resolution requiring more support., • Coordination: Facilitate seamless coordination between patients and virtual study team or other resources. Support patients in securing appointments by providing resources for scheduling and rescheduling appointments, and ensuring all necessary documentation and consent forms are completed accurately., • Resource Referral: Identify and connect patients with resources such as support groups, patient advocacy organizations, or educational materials, based on their needs and preferences., • Compliance and Ethics: Maintains a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality and privacy. Uphold all ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements related to clinical research activities. Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and adhere to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines., • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions, research activities, and outcomes in compliance with established protocols and procedures and within study and site CRM and CTMS systems., • Communication: Maintain and facilitate open and accurate communication with virtual study team, clinic staff and identified resources/organizations. Understand and be knowledgeable of the study and clinic(s)’ policies and guidelines and be always respectful of the staff and practices. Deliver unparalleled customer service while serving as a brand advocate and program representative; understands the importance of achieving quality outcomes and commits to the appropriate use of resources., • Serve as direct point of contact to national patient advocacy groups for ongoing support and relationship development by acquiring and delivering detailed information regarding resources and/or a patient’s needs., • Participate in trainings provided by Elligo Study Team, client’s patient recruitment and engagement team, and other opportunities available within the screening area and advocacy groups., • Demonstrated experience in explaining medical or study-related information clearly, connecting patients with community, financial, and support services, and actively listening and responding to patients’ concerns., • Prior experience in guiding patients, problem-solving, and providing compassionate support is essential., • Experience working with communities who struggle with healthcare access., • Experience with health systems navigation, including insurance, referrals, and scheduling logistics., • Advocacy and motivational interviewing skills to empower patients to take active roles in their care and study participation., • Strong knowledge of clinical research methods, protocols, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA, ICH-GCP)., • Exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving skills that have been demonstrated in producing improved patient experiences and outcomes and with the ability to engage and build rapport with patients, physicians, and research staff., • Proven ability to work independently in a high-volume, fast paced and patient-focused environment., • Empathetic and patient-centered approach, incorporating cultural competence to work sensitively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying needs, ensuring a supportive and caring experience for patients., • Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other clinical software, CRM, CTMS, etc., • Knowledge of medical terminology, with a focus on Gastroenterology concepts, and ability to interpret medical records and lab results., • In-depth understanding of health insurance benefits, relevant state and federal laws and insurance regulations., • Experience and demonstrated success working in a complex matrix to accomplish goals with a patient centric approach., • Strong people skills that demonstrate flexibility, persistence, creativity, empathy, and trust., • Robust computer literacy skills including data entry and MS Office-based software programs., • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field., • Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) Social Worker (BSW), or Case Manager (CCM) preferred., • Minimum 5+ years of experience in patient navigation, case management, or patient access preferably in biotech, oncology., • Prior experience working within a Gastroenterology clinical setting or research environment is strongly preferred. ENVIRONMENT: • This is a hybrid or remote position based on the location of the incumbent’s home. The role will be operating in a home-office environment and a professional office environment if hybrid work arrangement. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, and phones., • Up to 20% of travel may be required to support the position’s responsibilities.
