Job Description LHH is seeking a Receptionist for a successful private, co-educational Middle School in Dunwoody. This Receptionist will serve as the primary point of contact at the Middle School reception area and provide essential administrative support to faculty, staff, and administrators. This role is key to ensuring the smooth daily operations of the school while maintaining a professional, welcoming environment for students, families, and visitors. Essential Duties & Responsibilities 1. Front Desk & Reception * Serve as the first point of contact for all visitors, students, and callers. * Monitor gate and front door access; greet and assist visitors. * Answer, screen, and route incoming phone calls; respond to general inquiries. * Manage student late arrivals, early dismissals, and maintain daily attendance records. * Receive, sort, and distribute mail and deliveries. * Make daily carpool and dismissal announcements. * Assist with safety and security protocols, including visitor check-in and emergency drills. * Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming reception area. 2. Student Health Support * Must be comfortable administering student medication per direction from the school nurse; maintain accurate health records. * Support students feeling unwell and coordinate care with the school nurse. * Maintain first aid supplies and ensure readiness. 3. Faculty & Staff Support * Send daily attendance reminders to teachers; track attendance follow-ups. * Supervise students sent to the office or for administrative meetings. * Welcome and orient substitute teachers and external service providers. * Provide general clerical support, including copying, scanning, and formatting documents. * Monitor substitute availability and assist with scheduling. * Take end-of-year inventory and assist with student supply orders. 4. Program & Event Administrative Support * Assist with logistics for day and overnight field trips (transportation, permission forms, etc.). * Support graduation planning (e.g., diplomas, logistics). * Coordinate yearbook proofreading, orders, and distribution. * Send reminders and logistics updates to families regarding events and trips. 5. Additional Duties * Provide occasional front desk coverage during evening or weekend school events. * Create and distribute a monthly internal email to faculty/staff highlighting special occasions and updates. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications * High school diploma or GED required. * Minimum of 3 years of experience in school administrative support or a similar role. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word). * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Comfortable working with Windows operating systems (e.g., Windows 2011). * Ability to operate standard office equipment efficiently. * Professional, positive demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills. * Strong attention to detail, highly organized, and self-motivated. * Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. * Strong multitasking and time management skills. Physical Requirements & Work Environment * Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and interact with students, staff, and visitors. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. * Must be able to bend, reach, and lift occasionally throughout the day. * Ability to work at a computer for extended periods. Dress Code Employees are expected to maintain a professional appearance that reflects the school’s values and promotes a respectful learning environment. Not permitted: * Shorts, blue jeans (except on designated Spirit Days), crop tops, clothing with holes, workout attire, and hooded sweatshirts during school hours. * Hats or head coverings, unless for religious or medical reasons. Permitted on Spirit Days: * Approved school spirit wear and blue jeans. Employees must be clean, neatly groomed, and avoid extreme hairstyles, facial hair, accessories, and visible tattoos or piercings that may be deemed distracting or unprofessional. The school reserves the right to determine what meets professional standards and may require employees to take corrective action if their appearance does not align with expectations.
