Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician supports a high-volume plastics manufacturing operation by setting up, maintaining, and repairing state-of-the-art injection molding machines and related equipment. This role focuses on ensuring reliable production through effective troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and process optimization, while consistently following established safety procedures and quality standards. The position operates on a 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. 2/2/3 rotating schedule, alternating between 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next. Responsibilities • Follow all prescribed safety precautions at all times and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required., • Assist with the installation of molds and dies on machines according to work order specifications., • Use a crane hoist to perform mold changes and conduct maintenance on molding machines, including insert changes to molds., • Set up molding machines and all ancillary equipment related to the molding process to meet production requirements., • Follow, monitor, and document process parameters to ensure repeatable, stable molding processes and consistent product quality., • Adjust and optimize molding parameters to achieve high-quality parts and efficient cycle times., • Respond promptly to machine alarms and production issues to minimize downtime., • Handle and care for all materials, molds, tooling, and equipment in a proper and safe manner., • Assist with the continuous operation of production equipment to meet production goals., • Work from engineering prints, bills of materials (BOMs), drawings, blueprints, electrical and electronic schematics, operating instructions, and written and verbal instructions., • Use hand tools, small power tools, electrical hoists, powered industrial trucks, and testing equipment to perform maintenance and repair tasks., • Carry out prescribed maintenance and repair operations on injection molding machines and related equipment., • Diagnose common mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical problems and determine effective solutions., • Repair or replace components such as switches, sensors, and other machine parts as needed., • Assemble, disassemble, and maintain molds, including installing and servicing hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical components., • Participate in developing preventative maintenance (PM) and standardized work procedures for manufacturing equipment., • Assist with implementing 5S processes and support continuous improvement activities throughout the facility., • Help modify existing procedures to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety., • Use troubleshooting skills to improve and develop repeatable, robust molding processes., • Change wire rolls on related equipment, handle material as needed, and troubleshoot work stoppages due to handle installer malfunctions., • Change heat transfer labels and perform troubleshooting and maintenance on USI heat transfer machines., • Perform preventative maintenance on all assigned equipment as required and promptly notify supervision of any needed repairs., • Maintain accurate documentation and maintenance records for all equipment and work performed., • Assemble and test new equipment and develop appropriate preventative maintenance schedules based on performance., • Investigate equipment deficiencies and recommend or implement corrective actions., • Support a fast-paced, high-change production environment by prioritizing tasks and completing work under time pressure with limited supervision.Essential Skills, • Strong analytical skills to diagnose equipment issues and optimize processes., • Basic electrical skills, including working with switches, sensors, and simple electrical circuits., • Basic hydraulics skills and understanding of hydraulic components and systems., • Working knowledge of machine, conveyor, and robotic operations in a manufacturing environment., • Proficient use of hand tools and small power tools for assembly, disassembly, and repair work., • Ability to operate a personal computer (PC) with general knowledge of MS Office applications such as email, Excel, and Word., • Intermediate knowledge of injection molding processing, including process parameter adjustment and optimization., • Experience with mold construction, assembly, disassembly, and maintenance., • Materials knowledge, particularly plastics and metals used in injection molding operations., • Basic understanding of 5S procedures and workplace organization., • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-change environment with limited supervision as a self-starter., • Strong attention to detail with excellent prioritization and follow-up skills., • Ability to work under time pressure and complete tasks in a timely and organized manner.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with Husky injection molding machines is a plus., • Experience working with cranes and hoists for mold changes and equipment handling., • Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering prints, BOMs, blueprints, and electrical schematics., • Experience performing preventative maintenance and developing PM schedules., • Exposure to USI heat transfer machines and label changeovers is beneficial., • Comfort working in a self-directed role with frequent priority changes and minimal supervision.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a plastics manufacturing facility with a fast-paced, high-change production environment. The position follows a 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. 2/2/3 rotating schedule, resulting in 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next, including regular night and weekend shifts. The work area has a moderate to loud noise level, and hearing protection is required. Team members may be required to lift up to 50 pounds and will spend extended periods standing and/or sitting, with frequent stretching, reaching, climbing ladders, and working from platforms. The facility has cement flooring and may require being on-call during high production seasons. Work involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, cranes, hoists, powered industrial trucks, and testing equipment around state-of-the-art injection molding machines and related machinery. Uniforms are provided for specific roles to support safety and consistency in the workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
