Job DescriptionJob Title: Shop Hand Technician Job Description The Shop Hand Technician supports the fabrication and installation of architectural sheet metal and exterior building envelope systems. This role works with hand and power tools to assist in producing and installing components such as sheet metal flashing and trim, metal wall and roof panels, exterior wall cladding, soffit panels, translucent and composite wall systems, waterproofing and air barriers, fiber cement siding, and fiberglass sandwich panel assemblies across commercial, healthcare, industrial, institutional, and residential projects. Responsibilities • Assist with the fabrication of architectural sheet metal components using hand tools, power tools, and basic fabrication equipment., • Support installation of sheet metal flashing and trim, metal wall and roof panels, exterior wall cladding, soffit panels, and related building envelope systems., • Help install waterproofing and air barrier systems to ensure building envelope integrity., • Work with fiber cement siding and fiberglass sandwich panel assemblies as part of exterior cladding projects., • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and other equipment safely to move materials and access work areas at height., • Perform basic welding tasks and assist with maintenance of tools, equipment, and work areas as directed., • Read and follow blueprints and work instructions to complete tasks accurately and efficiently., • Work at heights confidently and safely, following all safety procedures and using appropriate fall protection., • Support project teams on commercial, healthcare, industrial, institutional, and residential job sites as needed., • Work full shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or until daily work is completed, including overtime when required., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety guidelines and best practices.Essential Skills, • Comfort working at heights with no fear of elevated work areas., • Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a construction or fabrication setting., • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn and apply new fabrication and installation techniques., • Ability to operate equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts safely and responsibly., • Basic welding skills or the ability to assist with welding tasks under direction., • Ability to read and follow blueprints and written work instructions., • Reliability to work a 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. shift or until work is finished, including overtime when needed., • Willingness to work outdoors in varying climate conditions above 20 degrees.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • OSHA certification preferred but not required., • Experience with equipment operation and basic maintenance is an advantage., • Exposure to architectural sheet metal, exterior cladding, or building envelope systems is beneficial., • Experience on commercial, healthcare, industrial, institutional, or residential construction projects is a plus.Why Work Here? The Shop Hand Technician regularly works at heights and uses equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts to access work areas. The environment is hands-on and physically active, focused on the fabrication and installation of architectural sheet metal and exterior building envelope systems, with a strong emphasis on safety and proper use of tools and equipment. The standard shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or until the day’s work is complete, with overtime available when project demands require. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Shawnee, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
