Job DescriptionJob Title: Mobile Engineer 3 Job Description The Mobile Engineer 3 role focuses on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC and related building systems across multiple facilities within a defined geographic radius. This mobile position covers Providence, RI and the surrounding area, and involves both preventive maintenance and responsive repair work on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general building components. The role requires strong technical expertise in HVAC/R systems, a solid background in building maintenance, and the ability to work independently while traveling between sites. The position is structured with the intention to convert to a full-time permanent role. Responsibilities • Operate, inspect, and maintain all HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production equipment and systems in assigned facilities to ensure efficient performance and maximize equipment life., • Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC/R systems and associated equipment, including electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior and exterior components, and related grounds and production equipment., • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems and components., • Perform inspections and repairs to interior and exterior property areas, including walls, flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, and general maintenance items such as interior door replacements and ceiling tiles., • Focus heavily on HVAC work while performing light plumbing tasks and avoiding heavy electrical work, ensuring safe and compliant operations., • Study and become familiar with all assigned equipment, tools, and methods required for daily activities, and apply this knowledge to complete work efficiently and safely., • Conduct assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, and report on conditions that may impact client occupancy, comfort, safety, or operations., • Update work order status in real time and accurately document all work performed using CMMS systems such as Corrigo., • Submit purchasing card (P-card) receipts daily and follow all required administrative and documentation procedures., • Respond to emergency calls and call-in work as needed, coordinating with others if unable to attend an emergency and ensuring proper communication., • Store and operate a company vehicle from the residence, maintaining a safe driving record and complying with all driving and safety policies., • Participate in a standard business hours schedule (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) with on-call availability for urgent issues., • Perform general maintenance tasks such as basic building management, changing bolts, painting, and maintaining interior doors, door knobs, and ceiling tiles., • Use basic computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets, to support reporting, documentation, and communication., • Perform other related duties as required to support facility operations and client satisfaction.Essential Skills, • Universal CFC recovery certification, or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of employment., • Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering, with a strong background in HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, and production equipment repair and maintenance., • Demonstrated technical expertise in HVAC and refrigeration systems, including operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair., • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining commercial refrigeration and/or supermarket refrigeration systems., • Knowledge of overall building system design and applications, including how mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems interact., • High school diploma or GED., • Valid state driver’s license and a good driving record., • Ability to store and operate a work vehicle at the residence., • Ability to perform HVAC-heavy work, including HVAC equipment operation, HVAC maintenance, and general facilities maintenance., • Capability to perform light plumbing tasks and light electrical work safely., • Experience with building management and general maintenance activities such as painting, changing bolts, and maintaining interior doors, door knobs, and ceiling tiles., • Willingness and ability to be available for call-in work as required., • Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as Corrigo, for work order management and documentation., • Working knowledge of computer applications, including Word and Excel, for reporting and record-keeping., • Two years of trade school education or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration, and HVAC., • Prior experience in facilities maintenance or building engineering roles, particularly in mobile or multi-site environments., • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple work orders, inspections, and preventive maintenance tasks across several locations., • Effective communication skills to interact with clients, colleagues, and support teams while providing clear updates on work status and facility conditions., • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently while working independently on the road., • Comfort with conducting virtual interviews and meetings via tools such as Microsoft Teams.Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a mobile position based in and around Providence, RI, covering facilities within approximately a two-hour radius from the employee’s residence. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with additional on-call availability for emergencies. Work is primarily on the road, traveling between sites, with paid gas and compensation beginning once driving starts. The role involves frequent work in mechanical rooms, plant areas, and building interiors and exteriors, including roofs, grounds, and occupied spaces. The environment includes regular exposure to HVAC/R equipment, mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing systems, and general building components such as doors, ceilings, walls, flooring, and lighting. The position uses a company vehicle that is stored at the employee’s residence, and work is coordinated through CMMS tools such as Corrigo and standard office software. Employees can expect a hands-on, field-based environment that requires appropriate work attire suitable for maintenance and facility operations, including work around tools, equipment, and building systems, while adhering to all safety and operational procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boston, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
