POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Provides administrative and clinical direction and supervision for the University Health’s dialysis service line to include renal clinic, inpatient adult and pediatric acutes program, all outpatient adult hemodialysis clinics, adult and pediatric home dialysis modalities and the jail dialysis services. Works with the Medical Director(s) to plan, organize, supervise, evaluate and administer activities of the various dialysis programs. Promotes the University Health Customer Relation’s policy. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Current RN license in the State of Texas. Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required. Master’s degree in nursing or higher preferred. A national certification is preferred. Requires 3 years’ experience as the clinical nurse supervisor/charge nurse/administrator and/or director of a free standing or hospital dialysis unit is required. Three or more years as the administrator/director of a multi-system dialysis operation is preferred. Three or more years’ leadership experience with acutes, chronic dialysis and home modalities/programs preferred.

Description Westover Hills is a154 bed hospital with state-of-the art technology that offers a full scope of specialized services to include Women’s care, In-patient and Out-patient Surgical Services, (including Robotic and Cardiovascular surgery), Imaging, ICU, Dialysis, Interventional Cardiology and 24/7 emergency care. Perioperative Services at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Westover Hills is presentlyoperating1 CVOR, 6 ORs, 2 Endo suites, 11 PACU beds, 20 SDS beds and the Sterile Processing Department. We support a variety of specialties including, General, Colorectal, GYN, Ortho, Spine, Vascular, Robotic, Urology, Bariatrics, Plastics, Gastroenterology, Interventional Radiology, Infusion/Transfusion services, as well as Interventional Cardiology. The Peri-Anesthesia department consists of Pre-Op, PACU (Phase I) and Phase II Recovery. All the Peri-Anesthesia nurses at Westover are cross-trained to work all three areas and float to each area within out department. POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Trains patients and care partners on self-care home hemodialysis (HHD) or peritoneal dialysis (PD) techniques, equipment use, infection control, and emergency procedures. Home Dialysis nurses will also conduct home visits to assess the environment and ensure safety and compliance. Home Dialysis nurses will also be required to take on call responsibilities for patient and care partner support during and after office hours, and on holidays. Performs the nursing process in a safe therapeutic manner in a designated clinical setting. Provides direct patient care (HHD/CAPD/CCPD) and monitoring of renal dialysis patients. Coordinates home dialysis activities within the frame work of the Federal Regulations, State and Local End Stage Renal Disease Network. Supports and adheres to University Health and department specific policies and standards. Receives mentoring from the Patient Care Coordinator and Director of Dialysis Services. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Registered nurse who has at least 2 years of experience as an RN, and six months experience in the specific home dialysis modality. BSN is highly preferred. Must meet career ladder Staff Nurse II criteria for specialty area worked. National Certification in Dialysis is preferred. POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES The Hemodialysis Tech II position will coordinate with the Clinic Manager and Department Nurse Educator in the training process for all newly hired and existing staff members. The Hemodialysis Tech II is responsible for initiating all clinical floor training that teaches and integrates UH policies, procedures and dialysis theory for the treatment of ESRD (End-Stage Renal Disease) patients for all dialysis clinical floor position.
