Job Description Job Title: Quality Control Technician Job Description The Quality Control Technician performs advanced quality functions that support manufacturing operations, new product launches, and customer requirements. This role focuses on precision inspection, PPAP activities, ISO-related tasks, advanced CMM and fixture inspection, and effective problem resolution. The technician leads problem-solving efforts, drives advanced data collection, and takes ownership of quality performance for assigned product lines while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and occasionally interacting with customers. Responsibilities • Perform hands-on inspection of parts and assemblies using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools., • Conduct detailed blueprint and drawing reviews, including weld symbols and GD&T, to verify dimensions, tolerances, and overall product conformance., • Lead quality problem-solving activities for assigned product lines, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions., • Support manufacturing teams on the shop floor by answering operator questions, clarifying quality requirements, and providing guidance on inspection methods., • Execute advanced fixture and CMM inspection for complex parts, assemblies, and tooling to ensure compliance with specifications., • Assist with PPAP submissions and customer approval processes by collecting, organizing, and validating quality data and documentation., • Participate in ISO-related activities, including maintaining documentation, supporting audits, and helping to uphold certification requirements., • Support new product launches by establishing inspection plans, validating measurement methods, and ensuring quality standards are met from start-up through production., • Perform visual inspections and quality checks throughout the production process to monitor ongoing product quality., • Collect, analyze, and report quality data to track performance and identify trends or areas for improvement., • Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and other departments to resolve quality issues and improve processes., • Work on the manufacturing floor throughout the day to remain closely connected with production, quality, and cross-functional teams., • 3–5 years of hands-on inspection experience using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, and related precision measuring tools., • 3+ years of print reading experience, including weld symbols and GD&T, with the ability to accurately determine and calculate measurements and tolerances., • Strong shop math proficiency, including metric/standard conversions, fractions to decimals, tolerance calculations, and basic trigonometry., • High school diploma or equivalent combined with formal quality control training or substantial on-the-job quality control experience., • Demonstrated experience with quality inspection, quality control, quality assurance, and quality checks in a manufacturing environment., • Proficiency with visual inspection techniques and the use of precision gages and measurement equipment., • Manufacturing experience with direct involvement on the production floor., • Ability to work hands-on with the manufacturing team and answer operator questions related to quality inspection and requirements., • Experience supporting PPAP submissions and customer approval processes., • CMM operation experience for complex part, assembly, or fixture inspection., • Experience with ISO requirements, audits, or certifications., • Prior involvement in new product launches or leading quality problem-solving activities., • Experience with product quality in a similar manufacturing or automotive environment., • Strong print reading skills for basic to mid-complexity drawings, including weld symbols and GD&T., • Quality control training through formal education or structured on-the-job programs. The role is based in a 250,000-square-foot manufacturing facility on the southwest side of Indianapolis that is clean, well-organized, and comfortable for a production environment in the automotive industry. The facility is not very loud, maintains good temperatures, and provides ample space with equipment thoughtfully spaced out. The Quality Control Technician works primarily onsite every day with no hybrid or remote options, splitting time between an office area adjacent to the production floor and the manufacturing floor itself. The office area is shared with members of the engineering, purchasing, and management teams, fostering a highly collaborative and team-oriented culture. On the production floor, operations include shipping and receiving, packaging, forming, welding (brazing and soldering), lathes and mills, pressure testing, and other processes, all arranged in an organized workflow. The position requires frequent presence on the manufacturing floor throughout the day, working directly with quality and cross-functional teams. The dress code includes long pants or jeans and steel-toe or composite-toe boots, which the employee provides. The company supplies safety glasses, a hard hat, and a laptop to perform daily tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
