Working with the on-call veterinarian, the overnight LVT ensures that these patients get the support they require for a successful outcome. This role necessitates advanced technical knowledge as you are the eyes and ears for the doctor who is managing the cases remotely. In addition, you will assist in the provision of emergent care for any animal residing in the shelter that may need attention overnight, including animals in our advanced treatment facility that may be critical care cases. You manage treatment plan of hospitalized patients, performs diagnostics (x-ray, in-house laboratory) and obtains sampling (blood, swabbing), administers medications via all routes, and may need to assist in emergency procedures. Must be a self-starter with the ability to think critically in order to be a stakeholder in the patients’ treatment plans. Works well independently but as part of a team to ensure timely, quality medical care for all animals in the shelter.
