At The Dog Stop – Central Cincinnati, we're more than just a dog daycare—we are an all-inclusive indoor/outdoor facility offering grooming, boarding, daycare, and retail services to Cincinnati’s most pampered pups. Think of us as their home away from home! We're currently sniffing out a Canine Care Attendant—someone who’s just as passionate about pups as we are! This role is perfect for animal lovers looking to jump into a fast-paced, active job where every day is different, and every moment makes a difference in a dog’s life. We are a new location full of opportunities looking to build a team prior to our grand opening! What You’ll Do: This isn’t just a “play with dogs” kind of job—though yes, that’s most certainly part of it! As a Canine Care Attendant, you’ll be hands-on in both our daycare and overnight boarding areas, ensuring the safety, health, and happiness of every dog that is in our care. (aka their home away from home!) As a Team: * Provide constructive feedback to management as needed to ensure overall team safety and effectiveness as issues arise. * Participate in employee recognition and reward programs. * Exposure to outdoor spaces during inclement weather. Facility duties and animal care continue year-round, in any season for any position. Daycare Duties: * Proactively supervise group play and manage dog behavior to ensure a safe, fun environment * Recognize and promptly respond to signs of stress, aggression, or illness * Redirect inappropriate behavior and record break times using our Break Board * Create mental stimulation for dogs with basic games like Recall, Sit/Stay, Follow the Leader * Keep the daycare area clean—disinfect play areas, clean up after accidents, refresh water bowls hourly. * Report any incidents or health concerns to management immediately. Report anything you think the pet parent may need to be made aware of when picking up their pet as well. (Something to watch for, or even a good note to go home!) All should be screened through management. ️ Boarding Responsibilities: * Clean and reset kennels daily—disinfect floors, walls, bowls, and bedding * Ensure all dogs are properly fed, hydrated, and medicated (training provided) * Rotate dogs outside for potty breaks and playtime based on temperament ratings (A/B-rates) * Track feeding, breaks, medications, and behavior in our “MyTime” system * Prepare kennels for new arrivals with fresh food, water, bedding, and any approved personal items * Keep common areas, trash, and outdoor turf clean and presentable * Ensure a safe, independent and isolated environment (including during walks or playtimes) for any dogs who are not eligible to interact with others. * Report any incidents or health concerns to management immediately. Report anything you think the pet parent may need to be made aware of when picking up their pet as well. (Something to watch for, or even a good note to go home!) All should be screened through management. Availability: * Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays is required as we have dogs on site 24/7 year-round. * Hiring for both AM and PM Shifts Monday – Sunday. Please note that shifts will be scheduled to begin before business hours and after to ensure all departments are handled appropriately and all animals are cared for properly. You may be scheduled to work a minimum of 30 minutes up to 4 hours before opening / after closing time depending on the day of the week. Mid shifts may be available as well on busier days. * Business Hours for the Public: * Monday – Friday 7am – 7pm * Saturday 8am – 5pm * Sunday 10am – 5pm ✔️ What We're Looking For: Requirements: * High School Diploma, GED, or currently enrolled in high school * Must be at least 18 years old * Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays is required. * Must have reliable transportation * Previous pet care experience is strongly preferred—but we’ll train the right dog lover if we think you’re a good fit for the role! Pay will vary based on prior experience. Key Traits & Skills: * Enthusiastic and passionate about animals * Strong work ethic and a team-player mindset * Comfortable handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments * Detail-oriented, and safety-conscious * Able to communicate clearly with coworkers and management * Physically able to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet all day * Reliable and punctual. We have dogs who are on site 24/7 who rely on us to show up every day and do our best. * Positive, attitude * Empathy towards both humans and animals Working Conditions: * Loud, energetic environment with barking, messes, and playful chaos * Frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals and dog waste * Indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions * Fast-paced and physically demanding—this isn’t a desk job! * Exposure to large amount of pet hair (we call it dog glitter!)
