Job Description:\n\nDescription: HOPE Online Learning Academy Job Description ELD Specialist JOB CLASSIFICATION / WORK EXPECTATIONS: SALARY: $55,000-$66,000 The ML Specialist is a full time, exempt position. Employees in this position follow the Academic Year Calendar for HOPE’s Instructional staff, as determined annually. The expected workday is to be on site 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after the Learning Site’s operational hours. This job description may not be inclusive of all assigned duties, responsibilities, or aspects of the job described and may be amended at any time at the discretion of HOPE’s management. SUMMARY: The ML Specialist is a Site/Learning Site–based instructional role dedicated to providing direct, high-impact instruction and targeted support for multilingual learners (MLs). Primary responsibilities include delivering small-group and individual instruction, designing and implementing language development supports across content areas, and coordinating intervention programming tailored to student needs. The ML Specialist collaborates with Site Coordinators and Edmentum’s Student Support Coordinator to ensure that English Learners receive equitable, rigorous, and linguistically appropriate instruction. This work is grounded in: Professional Preparation and Planning;Intentional Preparation and Lesson Planning focused on language acquisition and academic content;Direct Instructional Support and Differentiated Teaching for students at various proficiency levels;Assessment, Data Analysis, and Progress Monitoring to guide instruction and inform reclassification;Collaboration with Stakeholders to create an inclusive, positive, safe, and engaging learning environment, andProfessionalism and a Strong Commitment to Educational Equity and Community Engagement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Priority Area: Direct Instruction of ELD Curriculum and Instructional Partnership 35% Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide direct, small-group instruction using a theory-based ELD curriculum to support language development and academic growth.Coordinate with Site Coordinators, mentors, and virtual staff to ensure ELs receive appropriate, standards-aligned instruction.Use data to group students for language development and guide instructional decisions.Collaborate in PLCs and lead site-based PD based on EL achievement data and staff needs.Support EL referrals through MTSS/RTI by helping design academic and behavioral strategies.Apply a leadership model (e.g., Situational Leadership) to offer tailored support to mentors, including co-planning and modeling.Partner with mentors to strengthen intervention planning and instruction for EL students.Integrate approved curriculum resources and technologies to enhance learning.Maintain accurate records of student progress.Help select culturally responsive materials and guide consistent implementation of EL strategies (e.g., SIOP). EDUCATION, LICENSURE, AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE: RequiredBachelor’s DegreeActive Colorado Teaching License with Endorsement Cultural and Linguistically Diverse Education (or in the process of obtaining it within three years of hire). Three years of teaching experience, at least two working with at-risk youth in a multicultural settingDemonstrated success in instructional coaching of adults to improve academic outcomes of students Experience supporting and providing instruction for diverse learners (CLD, SPED, MTSS, GT)Able to unpack a Colorado Academic Standard to develop learning targets, success criteria, and tasks that support rigorous instructionExperience with data-driven instructional practicesExperience screening and evaluating potential English Learners language to determine eligibility for ML programming. Requirements: Employee Benefits Pay HOPE contributes to 21.4% of pre-tax salary to Colorado PERA, instead of Social Security. The employee contribution rate for PERA is 11%. Employees are fully vested in PERA after 5 years of service, or can apply for a refund of the employee contributions upon leaving employment (subject to taxes). Employees can contribute pre-tax salary dollars to a 401k through PERA HOPE issues two paychecks per month via direct deposit, on the 15th and last day of the month. Time Off: Full time “year round” employees accrue 10 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) per month or 15 days annually. Academic year staff accrue 6.67 hours PTO per month or 10 days annually. PTO can be taken before it is earned. Unused PTO can be carried over at the end of the school year and is paid out upon termination of employment, per Colorado law. There are 9 paid holidays observed annually. School breaks are observed during the year. Staff are not expected to work during school breaks. We support "work life balance!” Health Insurance: New employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the month following hire. HOPE offers employee medical insurance through Gravie, which uses a nationwide PPO network provided by Aetna. There are three plan options Dental insurance (through United Concordia) is also available. HOPE covers 86% of the premium for employees and a portion for their dependents. Vision insurance (through EyeMed) and Supplemental insurance (through Aflac) are both voluntary. A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is available on a voluntary basis, using pre-tax employee contributions. Employees who waive medical coverage (because they have coverage elsewhere) are offered $3,000 annually in alternative benefits, which can be used in a Healthcare Reimbursement Account, Flexible Spending Account, for dental, vision or supplemental insurance, or contributed to a 401K or 403b.
