About the Team: Relativity's Integrated Performance teams ensure that our products work across all systems and disciplines, from trajectory design to aerodynamics to reliability analysis and beyond. Our groups size the Terran R rocket, design its missions for customer success, reliability, and reusability, and ensure that every system on the rocket and ground is engineered correctly for the demanding environments of launch and entry. Recently, we completed the preliminary design and analysis of Terran R including Relativity's first-ever work on launch vehicle reusability, spanning advanced trajectory simulations, wind tunnel testing, and structures analysis, among many other projects. As a Mission Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying ways to improve emerging and existing designs and ensure that hardware and concepts of operation meet or exceed requirements. In short, you'll be the glue between our analysis, test, certification, and design teams, helping to connect the technical dots and solve problems across our vehicle programs. To be successful in this role, you must be able to synthesize productivity for the program from the myriads of abstract problems and constraints facing an in-development launch vehicle. About the Team: The Avionics team is responsible for the full lifecycle of Terran R's nervous system, designing, building, testing, installing, and operating the hardware that connects and controls every major electrical system on the vehicle and ground. About the Team: The Factory Test team designs, builds, and operates the infrastructure needed to test nearly every part of Terran R right here at our headquarters in Long Beach, CA. This centralized approach provides engineers and technicians with exposure to the entire product lifecycle across a wide range of part sizes and complexities. The scope and scale are significant, with test stands capable of handling millions of pounds of force. Team members lead multiple projects in parallel, avoiding silos and gaining broad technical experience without needing a background in aerospace. With high-impact campaigns ahead, including thrust structure and stage 2 testing, now is the time to join. About the Role: • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of mission-critical, Linux-based software infrastructure for command, telemetry, simulation, and test automation systems, • Build and evolve tools and systems that support test execution across multiple environments including virtualized hardware, HIL/SIL setups, and integrated vehicle-in-the-loop testing, • Drive system performance, reliability, and observability, with an emphasis on optimizing Linux environments for real-time, high-throughput data processing, • Guide technical direction and execution, including architectural decisions, sprint planning, roadmap ownership, and balancing near-term goals with long-term scalability, • Collaborate across engineering functions (e.g. avionics, ground software, flight software) to align on deliverables, integration points, and operational readiness, • 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering, including systems or infrastructure-level development on Linux, • 1-2+ years of technical leadership experience (e.g., Tech Lead, Engineering Manager) with team execution responsibilities, • Demonstrated ability to lead architecture and delivery of real-time or performance-critical software systems, • Hands-on experience with CI/CD practices, testing strategies, and high-reliability software development, • Strong collaboration skills across hardware, embedded software, and systems engineering teams, • Experience leading teams delivering mission-critical systems in aerospace, robotics, automotive, or similar domains, • Proven ability to scale engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and conducting performance reviews, • Deep experience debugging complex system issues and driving root cause analysis in test or production environments, • Familiarity with systems assurance concepts such as redundancy, fault tolerance, or formal verification, • Experience with real-time simulation or HIL/SIL test infrastructure integrated into CI/CD pipelines, • Track record of making technical decisions aligned with system safety and reliability goals Compensation is only one part of our total rewards package. About the Role: This is a second shift position starting at 2pm PT • Responsible for a major mechanized subassembly and its child components from design release through test and successful integration onto the Terran R launch vehicle—lay out the build and test flow to ensure an efficient, high-quality product flow capable of scaling with time., • Drive the assembly's build and test effort through design integration, part sourcing, assembly sequencing, mBOM development, build and test work order creation, and specification authoring., • Support workcenter development by considering assembly and test operations, safety, tooling and capital equipment requirements, and company operational goals., • Provide hands-on support to the shop floor and production personnel, promptly addressing any issues that arise and offering upstream feedback to drive design for manufacturability., • Analyze and disposition recurring manufacturing discrepancies and support multi-disciplinary teams on root cause analysis and corrective actions., • BS degree in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering with 3+ years of experience building and testing hardware in a manufacturing environment., • Extensive experience authoring work instructions and/or test procedures to build and validate interdisciplinary mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic assemblies., • Experience interfacing with design engineering, manufacturing, and production personnel., • Extensive experience supporting large process and/or quality improvements with large scope of ownership., • Experience designing tooling or owning tooling development as a manufacturing representative., • Solid understanding in at least 2 of the following:, • Self-starter that has demonstrated the ability to define and own a process from scratch and roll out that process through adept communication to a diverse team., • New product introduction of an aerospace hardware system into a manufacturing, test, and production system with proven success., • Working knowledge of rocket subsystems including structures, mechanisms, high pressure gas systems, and/or avionics.
