In addition to operational oversight, the Shift Manager carries a small caseload to provide direct support to survivors, ensuring trauma-informed, client-centered services. The role requires strong crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to maintain a safe, respectful, and healing environment for residents and staff. Essential Duties: Shelter Operations & Supervision • Serve as the on-site lead during assigned shifts, providing direction, guidance, and support to shelter staff., • Supervise daily operations, including staff coverage, scheduling adjustments, and ensuring smooth shift transitions., • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance support to shelter staff; escalate performance concerns to the DOSS as needed., • Uphold shelter policies, procedures, and processes; provide training and reinforcement for staff., • Respond promptly to urgent situations, exercising sound judgment in collaboration with security staff and leadership as appropriate., • Communicate regularly with the other Shift Manager to ensure consistency and continuity of operations across shifts.Resident Support & Case Management, • Carry a small caseload of shelter residents to provide individualized support, advocacy, and referrals., • Employ trauma-informed, survivor-centered approaches to crisis intervention and case management., • Support residents in developing safety plans, connecting with community resources, and working toward self-identified goals., • Model conflict resolution and de-escalation strategies, and guide staff in responding effectively to resident needs.Administrative & Communication, • Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, case notes, and shift activities., • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and case reviews with DOSS., • Collaborate closely with the other Shift Manager to ensure seamless communication, including written handoffs and regular coordination., • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered., • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in residential, shelter, or crisis services setting., • Prior supervisory or lead staff experience strongly preferred., • Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and trauma-informed care., • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities., • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, residents, and external partners., • Proficiency in documentation, basic administrative tasks, and use of technology systems.Work Environment & Physical Demands, • On-site position in a 24/7 emergency shelter environment., • Frequent interaction with individuals in crisis or under stress., • Requires ability to respond quickly to emergencies and navigate multiple priorities simultaneously., • Moderate physical activity including standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs).What We Offer:, • Competitive Pay: $60,000 - $70,000 starting salary range. Salary is negotiable. Full-time exempt position.
