Job Description Position Overview The Solutions Engineer provides technical support and influences the direction of Quaker's solutions -based product offerings. The position aids with technical issues that may arise and with implementation of solutions. The Solutions Engineer develops design solutions, aligns our products with client business objectives, assists the Sales Team with product capabilities and provides ongoing technical support. Duties and Responsibilities • Gather and maintain knowledge of Quaker's window and door products, parts, accessories & systems, • Review Buildings Specs and Architectural Plans, • Participate as a key technical lead in offerings to customers that may include minor product enhancements or report development, • Design pressure & thermal calculations for internal testing of NFRC – National Fenestration Rating Council certifications and Energy Star energy performance ratings on U-factor and solar heat gain coefficient ratings processes, collaborate with the Thermal Engineer on the calculations, • Assist external Sales Representative & provide architects support by demonstrating product capabilities, addressing technical inquiries and participating in the sales process from pre-sales to post-sales support, • Complete designs for specific custom projects, • Develop and customize technical solutions based on customer requirements, • Support internal drafters in preparing 2D & 3D design plan details for instructions & marketing literature., • Analyze and identify root causes of issues, triage them and provide timely workarounds and solutions, • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location., • Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner., • Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis., • Communicate via email, prepare reports and work schedules., • Review and analyze data and information concerning customer business objectives., • Plan, prioritize and monitor custom design project activities. No direct management or supervisory responsibilities. Safety Observe safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment including but not limited to eye and toe protection; report potentially unsafe conditions; and use equipment and materials properly during visits to the production floor Travel Approximately <5% travel is required for professional development. Qualifications An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • Proficient with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook, • Expertise designing plans using AutoCAD drafting software, • Knowledge of SolidWorks 3D software preferred, • Knowledge of Building & Energy Code requirements, • Proficient understanding of Thermal properties with windows, including U-factor, solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) and visible transmittance preferred An individual is expected to have the minimum level of education and/or related expertise listed here: • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or relevant field required, • Resourceful / Proactive in Gathering Information, Sharing Ideas and Trouble Shooting, • Collaboration, • Communication Proficiency & Listening, • Problem Solving, • Reasoning Skills like Analysis, Evaluation and Synthesis, • Accuracy, • Mathematics, • Personal Effectiveness / Credibility, • Adaptability This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Work Environment Although the employee will primarily be in an office setting, while performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to visit the factory and be exposed to climactic variations, various levels of vibration, and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the office is usually low, but hearing protection may be advisable or required for prolonged visits to certain parts of the factory.
