Job Description 2nd Shift: • Set up, adjust and operate a variety of auxiliary binding machines containing several cutting heads, control surfaces or other attachments (i.e. inkjet and mailing devices, case making & decorating equipment, folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, binding/gluing machines, • May set up automatic bindery machines containing multiple functions and station capabilities (power paper cutters, power collators and gatherers, power folders, power speed binder) which can be electromechanically combined with other equipment and devices to produce a complete bindery and finishing unit that processes printed sheets into final books, catalogs, manuals, directories, magazines or other completed products, • Inspect equipment for safety issues, • May operate automatic adhesive binding machines (perfect binders) that contain numerous interrelated process stations that are fed collated sheets or signatures and perform such functions as vibrating, milling, roughening, gluing, covering and delivering or stacking completed books, magazines or catalogs, • Make needed adjustments to coordinate the multiple work stations on a single machine, • Direct crew though all aspects of production, • Monitor quality, output and productivityQualifications, • Familiarity with different paper weights, sizes, kinds and colors so as to be able to identify paper conditions (i.e. excessive moisture or curling that frequently requires additional machine adjustment), • Familiarity with basic mathematics (i.e. decimals, metric units) to understand dimensional requirements contained in job orders and to make more complicated adjustments, • Ability to use the full range of standard and specialized tools and devices to adjust and maintain the functional accuracy and operating conditions of the bindery machines, • Skill in making adjustments to powered machines using hand tools (i.e. wrenches, screwdrivers, punches, knives) as well as more specialized hand tools, usually furnished by the machine manufacturer, • Ability to read and interpret written work which indicates the number and sequence of machine operations required to complete the work and maintain dimensional accuracy in accordance with instructions provided, • Knowledge of operating procedures for bindery equipment such as folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, binding/gluing machines, • Working knowledge of the set up, adjustment, procedures, capabilities and limitations of equipment to perform the full range of standard and specialized folding, collating, and cutting of printed materials to complete a finished product Additional Information RRD's current hourly range for this role is $19.00 to $25.50 / year. The hourly range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the future. At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program. Job DescriptionDescription: We are looking for a skilled Industrial Sewer & Finishing Associate to join our print production team. This blended role combines sewing expertise with knowledge of finishing, packaging, and shipping processes for our custom-printed textile products. You will be responsible for operating industrial sewing machines and ensuring high-quality finishes on all products, as well as handling packaging and shipping to meet our customer and company standards. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, efficient, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Requirements: Essential Duties and Responsibilities Industrial Sewing Responsibilities • Operate industrial sewing machines to assemble, hem, and finish textile products according to design specifications and production schedules., • Align and sew printed fabrics to ensure accuracy, quality, and alignment of designs., • Troubleshoot and make minor adjustments to sewing equipment as necessary for smooth operation., • Read job tickets and follow detailed specifications for each job to ensure accuracy in packaging, labeling, and shipping., • Prepare products for shipment by FedEx, UPS, freight, courier, or Will Call to meet customer and company expectations., • Follow WIP (Work in Progress) procedures and coordinate with the Production Assistant and Finishing Lead on project timelines., • Work closely with the Quality Control (QC) team to inspect products, ensuring they meet quality standards before packaging., • Notify the Production Manager of any products that do not meet quality standards, documenting issues as needed to improve production flow., • Enhance packaging knowledge by understanding client requirements and specifications for product handling and presentation.Qualifications – Education, Experience, License/Certifications:, • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:, • Proven experience as an industrial sewer and/or in a production or finishing role, preferably in a print or textile environment., • Familiarity with shipping and packaging protocols, including experience with FedEx and UPS., • Strong computer skills; experience with MS Office, especially Excel, is a plus., • Attention to detail and ability to meet high standards for quality and precision., • Strong communication skills; bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus., • Ability to adapt to various work environments and work under pressure when necessary. Physical Requirements • Manual Dexterity: Ability to operate industrial sewing machines, handle fabric, and perform precise sewing tasks with accuracy and attention to detail., • Strength: Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, including rolls of fabric, finished products, and shipping boxes., • Mobility: Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods while performing sewing, finishing, and packaging tasks., • Repetitive Motion: Frequent use of hands and fingers for sewing, cutting, and handling materials., • Postural Activities: Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and kneel while setting up equipment or preparing products for shipment., • Visual Acuity: Ability to closely inspect fabrics, patterns, and finished products to ensure alignment, quality, and accuracy of designs., • Hearing and Communication: Ability to listen to instructions, communicate effectively with team members, and hear machine operation sounds for troubleshooting., • Environmental Tolerance: Comfortable working in a production environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and exposure to dust or fabric fibers.
