Job DescriptionJob Title: Dual Craft Maintenance Technician – Night Shift Job Description This role is a dual craft maintenance technician position on a rotating night shift in a climate-controlled food manufacturing plant. You will install, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, valves, boilers, and air compressors. You will use your troubleshooting skills to keep production equipment running efficiently, perform preventive maintenance, and support safe, reliable plant operations. The position offers structured training on ammonia systems and strong opportunities for advancement into leadership. Responsibilities • Assemble, install, and maintain mechanical systems, machinery, and production equipment., • Troubleshoot machinery and equipment to diagnose issues and perform effective repairs., • Perform routine preventive maintenance according to established schedules and procedures., • Read, interpret, and follow schematics, blueprints, instructions, and operation manuals., • Demonstrate electrical competency for troubleshooting and work safely with electrical principles and components, including 3-phase systems., • Use electrical meters and other diagnostic tools to test and verify equipment performance., • Inspect, service, and test machinery on a regular schedule to prevent unplanned downtime., • Work with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, valves, air compressors, and boilers, including pump and valve repair and conveyor maintenance., • Apply knowledge of piping systems, pipe fittings, pumps and motors, and valves in maintenance and repair activities., • Work with gearboxes, motors, bearings, sprockets, chains, bushings, belts, and pulleys to ensure proper operation and alignment., • Clean, repair, and install equipment and parts as needed to maintain production efficiency., • Perform welding and fabrication of parts and equipment when required., • Operate a sit-down forklift and/or articulating boom lift to move equipment and materials safely., • Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively for maintenance tasks., • Perform general maintenance work on buildings and facilities as assigned., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with health and safety regulations and cGMP standards., • Comply with all applicable health and safety regulations and follow plant safety rules and procedures., • Maintain strong working relationships with all plant departments and collaborate with teammates on shift., • Write routine reports and maintenance documentation, and complete necessary records in a timely and accurate manner., • Participate in training, including ammonia system training, and apply learned skills in daily work., • Work a rotating 12-hour night shift schedule and support coverage needs for the maintenance team.Essential Skills, • At least 2 years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or in a similar industrial maintenance role; 3+ years of experience is ideal., • Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food manufacturing., • Hands-on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, valves, air compressors, and boilers., • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and blueprints., • Demonstrated electrical troubleshooting competency, including familiarity with electrical principles, components, and 3-phase systems., • Proficiency in troubleshooting to identify root causes and recommend effective solutions., • Ability to operate and use electrical meters and diagnostic tools for testing purposes., • Capability to perform welding and basic fabrication on parts and equipment., • Knowledge of piping systems, pipe fittings, pumps and motors, and valves., • Understanding of gearboxes, motors, bearings, sprockets, chains, bushings, belts, and pulleys., • Ability to operate a sit-down forklift and/or articulating boom lift safely., • Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools., • Strong mechanical aptitude and proven ability to perform mechanical repairs and maintenance., • Strong computer skills to complete reports, documentation, and maintenance records., • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals., • Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to an industrial and food manufacturing environment., • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and push, pull, or move heavy machinery and drums., • Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift on a rotating schedule., • High school diploma or GED.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with diaphragm pumps is strongly preferred., • Previous work experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred., • Welding and fabrication experience is preferred and considered a strong asset., • Trade certification or graduation from a vocational or technical school in a related field is preferred., • Demonstrated physical dexterity and ability to perform hands-on maintenance tasks safely., • Ability to maintain clear, professional written communication in routine reports and correspondence., • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships across departments., • Willingness to train on ammonia systems and apply that knowledge in plant operations.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a climate-controlled food manufacturing plant that operates under cGMP standards. Some areas, such as refining rooms and boiler rooms in the North plant, can be hot. You will work primarily on the night shift from approximately 6:30 p.m. to 6:45 a.m. on a rotating 12-hour 2-2-3 schedule, providing a mix of workdays and regular extended time off. Maintenance technicians typically work with a partner on their shift, and there is a strong need for night shift coverage. The environment involves working around industrial machinery, pumps, conveyors, air compressors, boilers, and related equipment, using hand and power tools, forklifts, and articulating boom lifts. As this is a food manufacturing setting, you will follow plant hygiene and safety practices, including wearing a hair and/or beard net as needed, while not being required to be clean shaven. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $42.00/hr.
