Job DescriptionLHH is actively seeking a Project Manager for one of our top clients in Chattanooga! This will be a long term contract opportunity with our client and will report onsite to their HQ in Chattanooga. Position Summary The Project Engineer leads capital projects supporting packaging and processing operations, providing a blend of project management, design engineering, and technical expertise. This role owns the full project lifecycle-from concept development and cost estimation through execution and post-implementation support-while driving improvements in reliability, efficiency, and sustainability. The Project Engineer plays a key role in achieving site goals related to capital execution, plant capability, cost optimization, and waste reduction. Key Responsibilities • Manage end-to-end project execution, including design, procurement, construction, installation, and qualification, • Develop project scopes, budgets, and complex schedules; coordinate cross-functional resources to deliver on scope, timeline, and financial targets, • Track and drive performance against key engineering KPIs such as budget adherence, cash flow, startup performance, and capital spend, • Serve as the site liaison for projects led by external or centralized engineering teams, • Lead Early Equipment Management (EEM) and Startup Management (SUM) initiatives, including equipment optimization and lifecycle planning, • Develop cost estimates and conceptual designs for new products, line extensions, and packaging systems, • Establish and standardize engineering processes, equipment specifications, and best practices in collaboration with global teams, • Partner with Operations and Maintenance to troubleshoot, optimize, and improve equipment performance, • Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity through process enhancements and equipment upgrades, • Champion a strong safety culture with a goal of zero incidents, • Provide technical leadership and coaching to enhance team capability and performance, • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, SOPs, GMP, FDA, and applicable state/federal regulations), • Support environmental sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency and utility management, • Maintain clear and consistent communication across all levels of the organizationQualifications Education • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related field)Preferred Certifications, • Project Management Professional (PMP), • Professional Engineer (PE)Experience & Skills, • 5+ years of experience in project management, manufacturing, process design, and contractor oversight, • Proven ability to lead and deliver complex capital projects (typically $1M+), • Strong technical foundation across multiple engineering disciplines, with working knowledge of plant operations and construction, • Experience developing technical documentation (e.g., SOPs, work instructions), • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks), • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents, • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and mechanical aptitude, • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels, • Highly organized with strong planning and time management capabilitiesPreferred Experience, • Food or pharmaceutical manufacturing in FDA-regulated environments, • Experience with plant utilities (e.g., boilers, chillers, air compressors)Core Competencies, • Results-driven with strong execution focus, • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills, • Strong leadership and team collaboration abilities, • High integrity and accountability, • Ability to prioritize, plan, and manage multiple projects simultaneously, • Customer-focused mindset and strong interpersonal skillsPay Details: $50.00 to $57.00 per hour Search managed by: Kaitlynne Hope Benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
