Market Cook | Location: Salt Lake City, UT 84104 Compensation: $18-$20 per hour| Full-Time Schedule: Monday- Friday 6am-2:30pm Job Summary As a Market Cook, you bring Thomas Cuisine’s REAL Food mission to life by crafting fresh, vibrant, from‑scratch items that brighten someone’s day the moment they step up to the market. You’re the heartbeat of our grab‑and‑go experience—keeping displays stocked, beautiful, and bursting with flavor. With your eye for presentation and passion for nourishing people, you ensure every guest encounters food that feels thoughtful, wholesome, and chef‑crafted. This is a fast‑moving, creative role where your culinary skill, sense of hospitality, and pride in quality truly shine. What You'll Do • Review daily menus and market offerings to prepare fresh, from‑scratch items that reflect Thomas Cuisine’s REAL Food standards., • Follow approved recipes and production guides to create wholesome, high‑quality, cost‑effective dishes that nourish guests and support wellness., • Monitor product freshness and presentation throughout the day, recommending adjustments that elevate quality, efficiency, and guest experience., • Execute opening and closing routines for the market station, ensuring all food, equipment, and display areas meet Thomas Cuisine’s sanitation, safety, and quality expectations., • Support and mentor new team members by modeling Thomas Cuisine’s hospitality, craftsmanship, and REAL Food culinary practices., • Communicate equipment or maintenance needs promptly to maintain a safe, reliable, and efficient cooking environment., • Prepare and stock all market items ahead of service windows to ensure guests always encounter a full, fresh, and inviting selection., • Use progressive cooking, batch production, and small‑batch replenishing to maintain peak flavor, texture, and nutritional value while minimizing waste., • Apply thoughtful garnishing, packaging, and merchandising techniques that showcase REAL Food principles: simple, clean, natural, and visually appealing., • Follow daily prep, pull, and restock schedules to maintain consistency, accuracy, and readiness for peak demand., • Weigh, portion, label, and safely store ingredients for same‑day and next‑day production, following all food‑safety and proper thawing guidelines., • Document inventory use, pull slips, and order needs clearly to support accuracy, stewardship, and responsible cost management., • Maintain a clean, organized, and well‑rotated inventory using FIFO to support freshness and reduce waste., • Demonstrate impeccable food‑safety habits—keeping hot foods hot, cold foods cold, and ensuring all items are properly labeled, dated, and stored., • Clean and sanitize cooking equipment, prep spaces, and market displays consistently to uphold Thomas Cuisine’s high standards of quality and care., • Perform other duties as assigned. What You Will Bring • ServSafe® Certification and State Food Handlers Card, • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen, • High School Diploma/GED Physical and Sensory Requirements • This job involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and a kitchen environment with fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise. Employees must have the physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift trays, and perform repetitive tasks.
