We are looking for an assistant in the laboratory to help with the daily package deliveries, cleaning of laboratory work areas, and assisting of Histotechs and Lab Supervisor in daily functioning of the lab. Early start time. Part time available from 6:00 am - 10:00 am or Full Time 6:00 am - 2:00 pm. Responsibilities: Physical work is a primary part of the job. Candidate must be able to lift objects up to 50 pounds up and down one flight of stairs. Receive monthly deliveries of alcohols/reagents. Responsible for garbage collection, medical waste collection and breaking down cardboard for recycling. Cleaning and disinfecting work areas, including cleaning of floors. Daily lab tasks include cleaning, organization, and storage of paraffin blocks. Laboratory will train candidates to aid Histotechnologists and Histotechnicians (preparation of slides, changing reagents, etc.) Full time position would assist in accessioning of specimens. Performs related job duties as required. Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent preferred, not required. Reliable, punctual, professional, courteous and patient. Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds, easily walk up and down stairs. You will discuss treatments and disease processes with clients, systematize and track patient diagnostics, and communicate with clients, veterinarians and pharmacies regarding patients' needs. To ensure success in this position, you need to be meticulous and compassionate to provide patients with the highest level of care. Preferred applicants are motivated, empathetic and detail-oriented. Veterinary Technician Responsibilities: Triaging patients and taking their vitals, and acquiring patient history and other information from clients. Assisting with diagnostic procedures. Discussing treatment plans and estimates, and payment options with clients. Acquiring cephalic, saphenous, and jugular blood samples. Inserting IV catheters, and monitoring anesthesia, ventilators, and fluid therapy. Operating autoclaves and Anprolene sterilizers. Processing specimens in the in-house laboratory and submitting specimens to outside laboratories. Calculating medication dosages, and providing dosage instructions for clients. Entering patients' service charges into the computer database and keeping accurate patient records. Explaining patient instructions to clients and sharing educational materials. Veterinary Technician Requirements: Associate’s degree or higher in veterinary technology from an accredited school. 2+ years of work experience as a veterinary technician. Proficient computer skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong affinity for animals. Outstanding people skills. Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment. The job description as follows: Halls, Classrooms, Senior Locker Room and Offices Wet Floor signs must be displayed before mopping All assigned hall way floors must be mopped daily. All window sills must be cleaned twice per week and free of spider webs. The main entrance glass doors must be cleaned daily. All classroom floors must be swept daily. All classroom floors must be mopped once per week and spot mopped as needed. All white boards must be wiped down unless the teacher indicates that the white board should not be erased. All glass on classroom doors must be cleaned daily. The senior locker room must be swept daily and the top of each locker must be dusted once per week. All carpet/rugs throughout the building must be vacuumed daily. All garbage and recyclables, (Faculty room, offices, classrooms, nurse's office and gym), must be disposed of on a daily basis.
