Job DescriptionTax Manager - Trusts & Estates About: We are a large global law firm delivering integrated legal and advisory services across business services, litigation, workforce solutions, and private wealth management. Our Trusts, Estates and Wealth Preservation practice is a cornerstone of the firm, providing comprehensive estate planning, trust administration, probate, family business succession, charitable giving, and wealth preservation strategies to high-net-worth individuals, families, executives, and closely held businesses in the Pittsburgh region and beyond. We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our team and provide critical tax expertise in support of our growing Trusts, Estates and Wealth Preservation practice. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced estate planning attorneys on complex, high-stakes matters while contributing to client success in a collaborative, full-service environment. Key Responsibilities • Prepare, review, and sign fiduciary income tax returns (Form 1041), estate tax returns (Form 706), gift tax returns (Form 709), and related state filings (including Pennsylvania inheritance tax returns)., • Advise attorneys and clients on federal estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax planning, including strategies to maximize use of exemptions, annual exclusions, GRATs, CLATs, IDGTs, dynasty trusts, and charitable vehicles., • Perform tax projections, scenario modeling, and "what-if" analyses to optimize wealth transfer structures, minimize tax liabilities, and achieve clients' non-tax goals (e.g., asset protection, family governance, philanthropy)., • Handle complex fiduciary accounting, distributable net income (DNI) calculations, basis tracking, and allocations across multiple trusts, estates, partnerships, and family entities., • Support estate and trust administration by ensuring accurate tax compliance, managing deadlines/extensions, and addressing IRS/DOR inquiries or audits., • Required: Active CPA license (or equivalent certification with relevant experience); Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field., • Required Experience: 4+ years of progressive tax experience, with significant focus on fiduciary/estate/gift taxation in a law firm, accounting firm, family office, or similar environment., • Preferred Experience: Direct work with high-net-worth individuals and families on estate planning, trusts (revocable/irrevocable, dynasty, special needs, etc.), wills, probate administration, charitable planning, and business succession. Familiarity with Pennsylvania inheritance tax and multi-state issues is a plus., • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to translate complex tax concepts into practical advice for attorneys and clients., • Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., UltraTax, ProSystem fx, or similar), Microsoft Office, and fiduciary accounting tools., • Health, • Dental, • Vision, • PTO, • Bonus, • 401k Match, • Pension - For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
