Job DescriptionJob Title: Pipefitter Job Description This role is responsible for installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing piping systems and related equipment in a shop and shipyard environment. You will work from drawings, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out complex piping routes, ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient operation of various systems. Responsibilities • Install, modify, and repair new and existing piping systems and associated equipment in a shop and shipyard environment., • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion, and operation of piping systems., • Set up system routes, including placing and cutting route openings in accordance with specifications and safety requirements., • Install hangers, supports, and related hardware at the proper pitch and elevation to ensure structural integrity and correct system alignment., • Determine and install risers, branch outlets, expansion joints, pumps, gauges, and pressure regulators in the appropriate combination to ensure proper system operation., • Plan and complete the routing and placement of piping systems leading to equipment, ensuring accurate connections and alignment., • Determine and place equipment at the proper elevations and locations within the piping systems to meet design and operational requirements., • Join, seal, and test piping systems and equipment to verify proper pressures, leak-free joints, and reliable operation., • Use measuring tools to take accurate measurements and verify dimensions during fabrication and installation., • Perform drilling, tapping, brazing, and grinding as needed to fabricate and fit piping and components., • Support shipyard fabrication activities by fitting and assembling piping systems to meet project specifications and schedules., • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in the shop and shipyard.Essential Skills, • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and sketches for piping systems., • Proficiency in planning and laying out routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, and expansion for piping systems., • Hands-on experience installing, modifying, and repairing piping systems and related equipment., • Skill in using measurement tools to take accurate measurements and verify dimensions., • Experience with drilling, tapping, brazing, and grinding in a fabrication or pipefitting environment., • Ability to install hangers, risers, branch outlets, expansion joints, pumps, gauges, and pressure regulators correctly., • Competence in joining, sealing, and testing piping systems to ensure proper pressure and leak-free operation., • Experience working in a shipyard or heavy fabrication environment., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in a shop and shipyard setting.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous shipyard experience is a plus., • Experience in a fabrication shop environment is beneficial., • Familiarity with shipyard-specific piping systems and standards is advantageous.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a shop environment at a newly acquired industrial facility in the Charleston/Goose Creek area, formerly operating as a shipyard-focused site. You will work around fabrication and shipyard operations, including cutting, grinding, brazing, and assembling piping systems. Multiple shifts are available, offering flexibility in scheduling. The environment involves typical industrial conditions such as noise, fabrication equipment, and material handling, and requires appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment suitable for a shop and shipyard setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Jacksonville, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $29.50 - $39.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
