Job DescriptionDescription: JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Processing Center Manager is responsible for supervising employees and daily operations at the processing center, as well as for the facility’s overall productivity and profitability. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: • Train, supervise and coach Processing Center personnel, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and the Employee Handbook., • Provides input on disciplinary actions and conducts performance reviews and coaching within required timelines., • Manages departmental structure, development, and monitors production goals, • Ensure proper cash handling and point-of-sale procedures, • Plans and manages projects related to departmental functions. Manages and supports change with direct reports, • Respond appropriately and creatively to the challenges of operating a profitable facility/department via expense controls, employee scheduling and recycling programs, • Ensure accurate timekeeping using the payroll system, • Coordinate charitable contributions and client service activities in partnership with the Service Center Manager, • Models professional, service-oriented behavior and foster a culture of teamwork, equity, and inclusion., • Address and resolve issues with customers, donors, volunteers, and staff using effective communication and de- escalation skills; escalate unresolved issues to the Processing Center Manager or SDRO/ADRO (Sr. Director of Retail Operations/Assistant Director of Retail Operations)., • Support recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and employee development activities as directed by the Processing Center Manager., • Communicate and represent the interests and needs of the facility to the Processing Center Manager and SDRO/ADRO, • Communicate facility maintenance problems to the Processing Center Manager and Facilities Manager to provide a safe and clean working environment that complies with all state and local building and fire codes while implementing safety policies through training, reporting safety hazards, and correcting unsafe employee practices, • Attend management meetings as scheduled by the Senior Director of Retail Operations/Associate Director of Retail Operations in the absence of the Processing Center Manager, • Work alongside staff to maximize productivity and promote collaboration., • Help maintain Google Calendar for proper time management proficiency, • Operate forklifts and other equipment in compliance with SVdP safety standards., • Oversee the safe loading/unloading of trailers, including donations, transfers, recycling, and waste., • Enforce all safety policies and serve as a safety ambassador by training and supervising safety-sensitive roles., • Monitor and maintain proper inventory counts for all warehouse spaces., • Oversees line loader and baler crews to achieve production standards., • Properly sort and handle all incoming hazardous materials for appropriate storage or disposal in accordance with SVDP’s waste procedures and guidelines, • Perform any tasks needed to keep the work area neat and orderly/maintain a safe work environment in all warehouse spaces and departments, • Work in any assigned production areas as needed Daily assignments will rotate based on staffing and operational needs. Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS & KEYS TO SUCCESS This position requires frequent communication and assistance among numerous departments. Therefore, this individual must: • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment., • Basic knowledge of all clothing, accessories, linens, miscellaneous, jewelry, books, collectibles, furniture, small appliances, quality requirements, and resale value., • Strong leadership and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse staff, customers, and volunteers., • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make timely, accurate decisions., • Able to meet and maintain production quotas in all assigned areas, • Commitment to teamwork, equity, and inclusion. Consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality., • Must have access to reliable transportation to home location as well as other facility locations as needed for training. While performing the duties of this job: • This position requires the ability to perform mathematical calculations necessary to manage a retail business, the ability to prioritize and execute responsibilities, and the critical thinking skills necessary for good decision-making. In addition, this position requires familiarity with basic computer skills., • Knowledge of POS systems, Windows operating system, Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications required.
