Job Description Job Title: Fitter Job Description The Fitter will fit and assemble metal components for shell and tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and towers. This role uses tack welding, clamps, and measuring tools to ensure components meet precise dimensional tolerances and quality standards. The Fitter reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, and fabrication specifications while collaborating closely with welders, machinists, and quality control teams in a busy fabrication shop environment. Responsibilities • Fit and assemble metal components of shell and tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and towers according to specifications., • Use tack welding, clamps, and appropriate measuring tools to position and secure components prior to final welding., • Read and interpret blueprints, AutoCAD drawings, and fabrication specifications to plan and execute fitting work accurately., • Verify that all components meet dimensional tolerances and quality standards before moving them to the next stage of production., • Collaborate with welders, machinists, and quality control personnel to resolve issues and maintain efficient workflow., • Perform thermal cutting and basic welding operations as required to support the fitting process., • Inspect work for accuracy, alignment, and overall quality, making adjustments as needed., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the fabrication shop., • Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and company procedures at all times., • 3+ years of experience in industrial fitting or fabrication., • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, AutoCAD prints, and technical fabrication drawings., • Extensive or above-average knowledge and experience with thermal cutting processes., • Extensive or above-average knowledge and experience with welding processes., • Proficiency in using fabrication tools such as grinders, clamps, and measuring devices., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship., • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as effectively within a team environment., • Basic welding knowledge, including TIG, MIG, and Stick processes, is a plus., • Experience working in a fabrication shop environment., • Comfort working around metalworking equipment, heat, and noise. You will work in a specialized fabrication environment where your fitting expertise directly contributes to complex, high-value equipment such as pressure vessels and heat exchangers. The role offers steady hours with overtime opportunities, allowing you to grow both your skills and your earnings. You will collaborate with experienced welders, machinists, and quality professionals, gaining exposure to advanced fabrication techniques and technical drawings. Work Environment This position is based in a fabrication shop setting with regular exposure to heat, noise, and metalworking equipment. Team members must wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection. The role is physically active and requires standing, bending, and lifting materials up to 50 lbs throughout the shift. Available schedules include two day-shift positions from Monday to Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with overtime, and one weekend shift from Friday to Saturday plus one additional weekday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with overtime as needed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sand Springs, OK. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $27.00/hr.
