Job DescriptionDescription: Description Texas Baptists is a convention of more than 5,300 Baptist churches. Active membership at a church supportive of Texas Baptists is a condition of employment. BASIC FUNCTION: Under the guidance of the Director of Music & Worship, assist in coordinating and facilitating Music & Worship events, build relationships with church leadership, participate in the development of resources, and coordinate promotion of music and worship events, emphases, and projects. Requirements: RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS: NOTE: Some descriptions may have more specific duties and/or goals and objectives attached to this form. Such attachments normally reflect unique aspects of specific locations, shifts, departments, etc. 1. Coordinate Music and Worship events, including, but not limited to: Children’s Worship University, Everlasting Choir Celebration, Handbell Festivals, Instrumental Convergence, Combined Singing Men of Texas events, Combined Singing Women of Texas Events, and Worship Pastors events, focusing on the production, promotion, and evaluations of all events., 2. Manage and produce the Music and Worship newsletter and electronic communication as needed., 3. Develop a budget for events in coordination with the Director. Maintain all records, coordinate all check requests, and other expenditures for events., 4. Manage working files for all Music and Worship events and maintain historical documentation of all Music and Worship events., 5. Coordinate with the Web Content Team on the Music and Worship website event information and keep static pages on the web current and up to date., 6. Negotiate contracts for clinicians, meeting venues, travel, and housing., 7. Travel to events for advance on-site inspection and other responsibilities, as needed., 8. Enlist and supervise volunteers to help develop, produce, and conduct events, as needed., 9. Develop and maintain procedures for clinicians, including appropriate honorarium information, signed agreements/contracts, travel policies, and other financial considerations., 10. Actively seek to meet the needs of Texas Baptist Churches by affirming church music leadership, pastors, and other staff members. Strive to encourage church staff and lay members to develop an active, vital, and meaningful worship life in their congregations., 11. Attend training and enrichment events to maintain knowledge of current trends, needs, and practical application of worship and music ministry cultures, as directed., 12. Utilize the BGCT data management system to record contacts and update church staff changes., 13. Process mail and other correspondence accurately and timely., 14. Prepare and proofread letters, memos, spreadsheets, and other correspondence accurately and timely., 15. Promptly answer phones, take messages, and respond to requests for information accurately., 16. Attend meetings and participate in training as required., 17. Maintain compliance with Baptist General Convention of Texas policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements., 18. Perform other duties as required. POSITION REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: NOTE: These requirements represent minimum levels in order to perform the job on a satisfactory basis. Candidates must have the ability to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the job. 1. Extensive knowledge, experience, and understanding of church music and worship ministries, and the ability to understand the needs of Music ministers and church music leadership., 2. Excellent people skills, ability to affirm and encourage music leadership, affiliated ministries, and vendors., 3. Creative – able to brainstorm, dream, dream big, and bring dreams to fruition, 4. Team player, supportive of supervisor and peers, 5. Ability to travel for events, 6. Knowledge of musical terminology, resources, and materials, 7. Requires in-depth understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge and experience in the area of music and worship ministry., 8. Requires active membership in a BGCT-affiliated church during employment., 9. Requires proficient client management skills., 10. Requires proficient ability to exhibit detail-oriented skills necessary to understand and manage a wide range of information from a vast number of entities., 11. Requires proficient ability to speak, read, and write English., 12. Ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds continuously to move objects., 13. Work deals mostly with areas such as preparing and reading data and figures, reports,; visual inspection involving small details. Although important, depth perception and field of vision (peripheral) are not as critical as the ability to distinguish small details and markings very near to the observer., 14. Requires the ability to grasp, push, pull, carry, or otherwise manipulate objects; the ability to perform tasks requiring the action of muscles or groups of muscles, and foot and/or hand-eye coordination., 15. Requires the ability to walk, stand, and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time., 16. Requires the ability to speak clearly and make oneself understood in face-to-face interactions; to articulate with accuracy on the telephone., 17. Requires the ability to hear and receive verbal instructions, answer phones, and proficiently communicate in situations with some background noise., 18. Requires the ability to concentrate on fine detail with some interruption; ability to focus attention on tasks for 45-60 minutes at a time continuously., 19. Requires the ability to understand and relate to the theories behind several related concepts; ability to remember verbal and written tasks/assignments from a few hours to long periods of time., 20. Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, churches, committees, organizations, etc., 21. Requires excellent organizational skills; ability to multitask., 22. Requires professionalism in the workplace to include professional and accurate communication with others., 23. Commitment to Christian principles and teachings, both professionally and personally required., 24. Proficient working knowledge and ability to use various office software, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Excel, Google email, Google Drive, and internet skills., 25. Sufficient good health to properly discharge duties required.
