Job Description PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: This non-profit organization operates dental clinics to serve the oral health needs of children from low-income families. The Executive Director will: • Champion the Mission of the organization., • In conjunction with the Board of Directors, establish the overall strategy of the organization., • Establish and oversee the strategic and operational functions of all programs and staff in the areas of dental operations, facilities, financial operations, community engagement, and fundraising., • Ensure that client needs are met at the very highest professional level of children's oral health., • Serve as the face of the organization and represent its Mission and Core Values in all public settings. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: • Uphold and honor the Company's Mission, Vision, Core Values, and Objectives., • Follow all company policies and procedures., • Responsible for overseeing the planning, organizing, and directing of all organizational operations., • Report to the Board of Directors on a quarterly basis, a summary of:, • Programs and services delivered to clients., • Financial performance (which could include income & expense statement, balance sheet, actual compared to budget)., • Staffing and facility updates., • Community engagement and fundraising., • Future needs., • Monitor daily operations of the organization, providing executive direction for program strategies and efficiencies in conjunction with management., • Oversee all accounting and bookkeeping functions., • Direct the work of the business manager as it relates to financial operations., • Monitor and consult with contracted accounting services for daily financial operations., • Provide quarterly financial reports to the Board of Directors., • Provide executive direction and decision-making for all financial operations, including corrective actions if needed., • Oversee and direct the management of all financial assets, including cash reserves and endowment funds., • In conjunction with staff, initiate billing, monitor receivables, and ensure payment of all expenses for all fundraising events., • Initiate and execute the annual CPA audit with opinion and the IRS Form 990 submission., • Prepare an annual budget and submit it to the Board of Directors at the annual meeting for approval., • Monitor monthly, comparing actual results to forecasted income and expenses., • Provide the Board on a quarterly basis any variances from the annual budget., • Champion a strong work culture that attracts and retains people while driving the organization's mission., • Provide coaching and support for direct reports and, when needed, for all other employees., • Provide leadership to the management team in their responsibility to manage their staff., • Work with management to identify and address staffing requirements for efficient operations., • In conjunction with staff, initiate and lead all fundraising efforts., • As the face of the organization, build and maintain relationships in conjunction with staff that result in appropriate fundraising success., • Oversee and monitor all operations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. ACADEMIC, CERTIFICATIONS and/or TRADE QUALIFICATIONS: • Master's degree preferred or equivalent work experience. WORK EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & STRENGTHS: • 10 or more years of non-profit and/or dental clinic experience., • 5 or more years of management or supervisory experience., • Demonstrated leadership and management skills., • Strong understanding of financials and accounting., • Ability to multi-task., • Takes initiative., • Great at public speaking., • Works independently., • Personable and easy to communicate with., • Enthusiastic., • Creative problem-solving skills., • Collaborative., • Flexible., • Organized. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: • A seasoned leader who understands the current trends in oral healthcare and/or non-profit organizations., • Demonstrated empathy in helping children and their families., • Has a strong aptitude for financial and accounting., • Experience in hiring, managing, and motivating staff., • Has experience in developing and implementing successful fundraising plans., • Knows how to establish relationships with local community groups., • Highly effective in a leadership role that requires clear communication skills and decisiveness, including engagement with local media. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS, or "What Does Winning Look Like" • Increasing the number of children who have successful oral health outcomes and/or receive quality dental services through the organization., • Build an annual budget plan that is approved by the Board of Directors., • Have the right people in the right jobs., • Be a successful non-profit organization by:, • Maintaining a clear and well-documented Mission Statement., • Maintaining organizational documents for non-profit status, both state and federal., • Developing and maintaining an independent, decision-making Board of Directors., • Ensuring that systems are in place to promote transparency and accuracy in all financial statements and information reporting., • Maintaining transparency in all aspects of operations., • Maintaining transparency in Executive Director and Board of Directors compensation., • Submitting the required IRS Form 990 annually., • Always being prepared for unannounced public inspections of IRS Form 990 and tax exemption documents.
