POSITION EXPECTATIONPOSITION EXPECTATIONS Position Summary The Store Manager in Training is responsible for learning the aspects of the Store Manager role. The Store Manager in Training assists in the overall store operation, including collections, processing, personnel management, financial performance, workforce development plan implementation and asset protection activities. Responsibilities • Maximizes sales performance through proper rotation, display, signage, and inventory of processed merchandise. Meets or exceeds sales goals on a consistent basis., • Oversees the proper handling and processing of incoming and outgoing donations: on-site donations, processed goods, salvage goods and waste., • Maximizes used goods processing through the proper application of Goodwill techniques, including sorting, preparing, and pricing items for sale. Meets or exceeds production goals on a consistent basis., • Ensures that quality customer service is presented and provided by all team members in a timely and courteous manner to all shoppers, donors, and other team members., • Ensures the proper management of clients assigned to the store., • Maintains sales floor appearance, cleanliness and shopping environment, including but not limited to floor care, fitting rooms, cash resisters, customer service area, aisles, trash cans, lights, restrooms, glass showcase, window ledgers and doors., • Maintains odor control, cash resisters, doors, and restrooms are in proper working order., • Maintains appearance of building exterior and parking lot appearance, including but not limited to windows, doors, sidewalks, parking lot lights, dumpster area, landscape, stray shopping carts, store entry and signage., • Maintains all machinery and makes sure it is in proper working order., • Maintains processing area appearance, housekeeping, and work environment., • Identifies structural concerns to discuss with the landlord and notify facilities team of all repairs and maintenance needed at the store., • Meets or exceeds daily, weekly, and monthly production goals., • Manages the store budget, including maintaining position control, achieving processing goals generating revenue, and controlling expenses effectively and efficiently., • Ensures proper cash handling including enforcement of cash register procedures and submission of required reports., • Ensures that the store and surrounding premises are kept clean and free of safety hazards., • Ensures safety procedures and understood and followed by all team members., • Ensures that Asset Protection matters are reported and investigated accurately and in a timely manner., • Ensures proper operation of security and safety systems including but not limited to: door locks, alarms, office doors, bank deposits, refunds, safety incident reports, fire extinguishers and cash handling procedures., • Follows all safety policies, Asset Protection policies and team member policies, as outlined in the Team Member Guidebook, Asset Protection Handbook, and Safety Manual., • Hires, trains, and directs the activities of the store personnel provide an effective workforce. Maintains morale of the workforce., • Schedules weekly labor in a timely fashion and in accordance with direction from Senior Management., • Reports personnel information and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner., • Trains all team members reporting to them on any issues or policy and procedures as needed., • Ensures that performance evaluations are conducted in a timely manner., • Processes all team member status change actions accurately and in a timely manner., • Ensures proper adherence by all team members to policies and procedures, utilizing intervention skills recommended by Human Resources (HR) to effectively maintain discipline., • Ensures compliance with all Goodwill policies provided in the Team Member Guidebook, GII standards, and safety and security regulations., • Meets qualitative and quantitative performance stands as established by the company., • Assists in any additional projects or tasks as determined by management. Education, Experience and Requirements Required • Team members in this position may be required to travel at a moment notice or be transferred to other Goodwill retail stores, based on business operational needs., • Must be able to continuously perform repetitive work at a set pace., • Must be able to operate and obtain certification for the use of the power stacker., • Must possess a working knowledge of retail and computer technology., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including a strong emphasis on Word and Excel, • Must possess strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication skills., • Exhibits a high level of integrity and business ethics., • Exhibits a high level of adaptability and flexibility. Preferred • High school/ GED completion or Bachelor’s degree in any related field preferred., • Minimum of 6 years of retail experience with 3 years of retail supervisory experience preferred., • Minimum of 3 years of goal setting and tracking experience preferred., • Minimum of 3 years of setting and tracking experience preferred., • Prior profit and loss, sales, or cost management accountability preferred., • Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus. Environmental Factors • Duties will be conducted at the Retail Stores, Central Warehouse, or other assigned Goodwill locations where no cooling or heating will be available. Exposure to extreme heat, cold, dust, animal hair and sometimes humidity. Physical Factors • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds., • Must be able to tolerate prolonged standing, walking, reaching, stooping, lifting, pulling, bending, kneeling.
