Resident referred means residents who have been identified as being at risk of malnutrition or other nutritional problems, such as unintentional weight loss, poor food intake, or medical conditions that affect nutrient absorption., • Participate in facility Nutrition at Risk (NAR) meetings to assess higher-risk individuals requiring regular interdisciplinary team evaluation., • Complete facility evaluation tools as requested and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) tools., • Assist in problem identification and implementation of solutions for residents’ nutritional health and food service areas., • Work with the Culinary Services Manager to ensure food service staff are demonstrating safe, sanitary practices and providing meals as prescribed., • Provide nutrition-related in-services for culinary staff and other staff as required by state regulations or needed by the facility., • Review and approval of facility menus. Approve of substitutions as needed., • May serve as a preceptor for those employees involved in a Culinary Services Manager’s course., • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English., • Ability to travel and/or attend educational offerings presented by the facility, as well as approved offerings by Association conferences or other entities, • The ability to taste and smell food to determine quality and palatability., • Maintains Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), and continuing education requirements., • Dietitian license and/or certification are required to be obtained within 60 days from the date of hire as required by state regulations., • Must possess an active CPR/BLS Certification and always maintain certification during employment., • At least (1) year of long-term care and/or food service supervisory experience., • Possess skills to organize, prioritize tasks to adhere to clinical expectations, function independently and make independent decisions with minimal assistance.
