General Summary of Position: The Volunteer & Mentor Recruitment Coordinator supports alumni engagement initiatives by recruiting, coordinating, and stewarding alumni and community volunteers for mentorship, networking, and university programs. A primary focus of this role is supporting the Braven Mentorship Program, in partnership with the College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (FAHSS). This program connects alumni and professionals with students to strengthen career readiness, leadership development, and student success. The Coordinator also contributes to additional volunteer initiatives and alumni programs that build community, pride, and sustained engagement among UMass Lowell alumni. Volunteer & Mentor Recruitment • Identify, recruit, and engage UMass Lowell alumni and community professionals to serve as mentors, volunteers, speakers, and event participants across multiple programs, with primary emphasis on the FAHSS/Braven Mentorship Program., • Design and execute targeted outreach campaigns (email, CRM-driven outreach, direct referrals, and partner collaboration) to meet volunteer and mentor recruitment goals., • Coordinate recruitment timelines, capacity needs, and role expectations with program partners including Braven staff, FAHSS leadership, campus departments, and Alumni Relations colleagues., • Utilize alumni data, affinity groups, and professional networks to identify and match volunteers aligned with student needs, program goals, and the university's mission of student success., • Serve as the primary Alumni Relations contact for volunteer-based partnerships, including the FAHSS/Braven Mentorship Program., • Support onboarding, communication, and ongoing engagement of alumni volunteers., • Maintain positive, long-term relationships with volunteers through regular outreach, recognition efforts, and follow-up., • Track volunteer outreach, commitments, participation, and engagement using CRM systems and internal tracking tools., • Maintain accurate records of volunteer assignments, event participation, and alumni engagement activity., • Prepare summaries and reports for internal stakeholders to assess recruitment outcomes, participation trends, and program effectiveness., • Collaborate with Alumni Relations, Braven, FAHSS, and campus partners to support mentorship programming, training sessions, and alumni engagement initiatives., • Assist with planning and execution of alumni events such as networking receptions, career panels, mentorship gatherings, and volunteer appreciation activities., • Serve as a point of contact for scheduling and routine communications with partner representatives and internal stakeholders., • Support procurement/ordering and tracking of approved supplies and materials within grant guidelines (in coordination with supervisor)., • Maintain documentation for participation, convenings, and project outputs; support end-of-grant reporting preparation., • Build effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the University by freely sharing appropriate information and providing assistance when needed. Education: • Experience working in people-facing roles that require strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills (e.g., alumni relations, volunteer management, customer service, sales, recruiting, advising, or community engagement)., • Experience in volunteer recruitment, outreach, or stakeholder engagement, including identifying prospects, conducting outreach, and encouraging participation., • Demonstrated experience in project management, including managing multiple priorities, timelines, and deliverables., • Experience coordinating programs, events, or initiatives that involve working with diverse individuals or groups, • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal; ability to engage and motivate alumni and volunteers., • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail., • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and maintain organized records and secure files., • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple teams., • Experience in volunteer recruitment, alumni relations, sales, fundraising, admissions, or other relationship-driven roles., • Bilingual/multilingual ability (spoken and/or written) preferred; experience coordinating interpretation/translation is a plus., • Demonstrated ability to engage, motivate, and build relationships with diverse individuals and stakeholder groups. This position directly impacts alumni engagement, volunteer participation, and student success outcomes, as well as the overall success and sustainability of the UMass Lowell / Braven partnership. Effective communication, coordination, and data tracking are essential to maintaining strong relationships with alumni volunteers, campus partners, and Braven staff. Errors or delays in outreach, coordination, or documentation may negatively affect volunteer satisfaction, program delivery, participation levels, and the effectiveness of the partnership. The role requires managing multiple priorities, recruitment timelines, and stakeholder relationships across alumni, campus partners, and external organizations. Work involves adapting outreach and coordination strategies to meet evolving program needs and participation goals.
