Job DescriptionJob Title: TIG Welder Location: Andover, MA. Summary: Based in Andover, MA the Welder will perform essential job functions associated with welding metal parts together as specified using TIG welder. Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to the following. This very active position will fabricate, join, and/or repair customer products, capsules, equipment, fixtures, and various types of metal objects and structures using TIG welding techniques. In addition, you will: • Set up and operate TIG welder according to specifications., • Equipment set-up, including loading/unloading parts., • Monitor welding process and making adjustments to equipment as necessary., • Inspect and checking dimensions using precision gauges and measuring instruments., • Make adjustments to equipment to ensure quality parts are produced., • Complete production and labor reports., • Complete preventative maintenance procedures., • Operate drill presses, power saws, grinders, metal lathes, rollers, hydraulic shears, air tools, and a variety of welding equipment and hand tools., • Be responsible for all equipment and supplies, associated with the weld and machine shops., • Maintain daily communication with management to review the priorities set forth within the department., • Promote good housekeeping practices; follow all safety programs set in place., • Perform other tasks as assigned., • Follow the established work procedures and control measures (including the use of PPE where issued) and any applicable SHE rules., • The ability to operate all in-house welding equipment., • Maintain records and document in process inspection data as required., • Work with a variety of materials, including steel, copper, aluminum, titanium, Inconel and other precious metals., • Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter., • Brings any irregularity to Lead-person for management., • Promotes safety and good housekeeping practices., • Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position., • Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism., • This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and as such will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage. Job Description Fabrication of stainless steel and mild steel components & assemblies to drawings using GTAW, FCAW and GMAW welding equipment, grinding, band saws, plasma torch. Qualification under TevTech WPS’s. Gas distribution system fabrication includes orbital welding. Utilization of fabrication and welding skills to meet specifications identified on component drawings, including dimension specifications, angles, flatness, weld preparation, penetration with no porosity. As all components are custom designed and fabricated, the ability to anticipate stress and or movement in components resulting from welding and then compensating for them is critical. Fabricated items include mild steel frames, stainless steel vacuum chambers and stainless-steel vacuum piping. Position would be primarily welding and fabrication, but may do some of the following as well: • Assembly of vacuum furnaces (including piping, frames, gas distribution systems, etc.), • Operation and testing of vacuum furnaces (including loading, monitoring, unloading, fluid evaluation/changes as needed, insulation repair/replacement as required), • Field service of vacuum furnaces and components., • Shipping and receiving, including incoming order inspections. Order inspections will include the use of micrometers, tape measures, and angle measurements. With this position, there may be some overtime, weekend or shift work on a periodic basis based on manufacturing workload as well as traveling. Degree: High School diploma or equivalent Experience: Experience preferred in the following areas: • 4-5 years’ experience with welding GTAW and GMAW stainless and mild steel, • Some assembly and/or operation of vacuum equipment., • Some experience with installation, testing, troubleshooting & commissioning of industrial equipment and electronic instrumentation & process controls., • Understanding of piping and instrument diagrams, assembly drawings., • Incoming and sub-assembly inspection. Skills: GTAW, FCAW and GMAW welding Thorough understanding of mechanical drawings and welding symbols. Ability to work off Piping & Instrument Diagrams, assembly drawings. Mechanical skills, including working with hand tools, cranes, lifts and fork trucks. Computer skills: MS Office Hands-on installation of instrumentation and process control Travel: less than 5% travel to customer sites for system installation and field service.
