Job Description Job Title: Superintendent Job Description The Superintendent leads all field operations for large and complex commercial construction projects, with a focus on healthcare, education, manufacturing, and other large commercial facilities. This role manages pre-construction planning, day-to-day site activities, safety, quality control, scheduling, and project closeout in close collaboration with the project management and quality control teams. The Superintendent ensures projects run safely, efficiently, and in alignment with budget, schedule, and client expectations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and Lean construction practices. Responsibilities • Manage all pre-construction activities, including developing crisis management plans, project schedules, site logistics plans, site-specific rules and regulations, and comprehensive safety plans., • Lead and oversee all field staff, subcontractors, and suppliers on assigned projects, ensuring clear direction and coordination across all trades and disciplines., • Conduct daily huddles and weekly work planning sessions to coordinate job site activities, manage workflow, and align teams with project goals., • Coordinate job site logistics, including delivery, staging, and storage of materials, tools, and equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations., • Develop, manage, and implement the project schedule, adjusting as necessary to address changing conditions, and work closely with the project management team to keep the schedule current and accurate., • Collaborate with the project management team throughout the project lifecycle, including assisting with the selection of subcontractors and supporting the preparation and management of RFIs (Requests for Information)., • Support and track procurement of materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and availability to meet schedule requirements., • Work closely with the quality control team to ensure all project-specific quality requirements are met and consistently enforced on site., • Implement the site-specific quality control plan in partnership with the quality control and project management teams., • Develop and manage Procore or equivalent project management platform activities, including Pre-Install Plans, First Work Inspections, Inspections, Observations (issues), and Punch Lists., • Ensure all on-site documentation, including drawings, logs, inspection books, and records, remain accurate, updated, and accessible to the project team., • Assist in the development and maintenance of As-Built drawings, ensuring they reflect current field conditions and changes., • Monitor and align field operations with the project budget, including labor, materials, and equipment costs, and manage site resources accordingly., • Collaborate with the project management team to review and assess weekly and monthly cost projections and expenditures., • Manage overall site labor, material, and equipment budgets for the duration of the project, taking corrective actions as needed to maintain financial performance., • Lead and support project closeout activities, including punch list completion, commissioning, final inspections, and owner training to ensure a smooth turnover., • Provide intentional leadership to the project team in the application of Lean methodologies, including standard work practices and Pull-Plan sessions., • Drive a strong safety culture by leading job safety meetings, orientations, and ongoing safety initiatives on site., • Ensure full compliance with OSHA and all other applicable safety rules, regulations, and company policies., • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients, design teams, and subcontractors to support successful project delivery and repeat business., • Support and adhere to established standard work processes and procedures across all aspects of field operations., • Actively participate in and support the implementation of Lean and continuous improvement practices to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety on projects. Essential Skills • Extensive project management experience in commercial construction, with at least 10+ years of experience working on commercial construction projects., • Strong background in commercial construction, including field supervision and coordination of complex building projects., • Demonstrated experience in estimation and a strong background in estimating construction projects., • Proven ability to manage and coordinate subcontractors effectively on active construction sites., • Experience delivering large or complex construction projects, particularly in sectors such as healthcare, education, manufacturing, or large commercial facilities., • Ability to develop, manage, and adjust construction schedules and coordinate closely with project management teams., • Strong understanding of construction management principles, including budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation., • Experience working with project management and field management tools such as Procore or equivalent platforms for documentation, inspections, and issue tracking., • Solid knowledge of safety regulations and requirements, including OSHA standards, and the ability to lead and enforce safety programs on site., • Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead field teams, conduct daily and weekly planning sessions, and drive accountability., • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal project teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in healthcare, education, manufacturing, or large commercial construction environments., • background in construction management or a related discipline., • Familiarity with Lean construction methodologies and continuous improvement practices, including standard work and Pull-Plan sessions., • Experience with developing and implementing site-specific quality control plans., • Exposure to crisis management planning and site-specific rules and regulations for complex projects. Work Environment This role is primarily based on active construction sites for large and complex commercial projects, including healthcare, education, manufacturing, and other large commercial facilities. The Superintendent works closely with field staff, subcontractors, suppliers, project management, and quality control teams in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment. The position involves daily on-site presence, participation in regular planning and coordination meetings, and frequent interaction with clients and design partners. The work environment emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement, using tools such as Procore or equivalent platforms for documentation, inspections, and issue tracking. The role requires consistent adherence to site-specific safety plans, logistics plans, and standard work processes, with a strong focus on Lean practices and collaboration across all project stakeholders. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Fargo, ND. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
