WHAT YOU'LL DO AS OUR VETERINARY LAB ASSISTANT: You'll be working in our laboratory, supporting the veterinarians and veterinary techs in diagnosing and caring for our pet patients. This is a fast-paced role where you'll run urgent procedures and diagnostic tests (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, etc.) while following all safety policies to keep yourself, your team, and the animals safe. Precision and accuracy will be crucial as you process various samples (including centrifugation, staining, and preservation procedures) and use all types of Idexx equipment. You'll process digital cytology slides, perform various tests (blood, glycol, etc.), prepare samples to be sent to reference labs, and store samples when appropriate. Once you have the lab results, you'll clearly communicate findings to the veterinary team. You'll work within Vet Radar to complete lab tasks, monitor the diagnostic email, and manage the whiteboard to stay organized. To support efficiency, you'll manage our inventory levels and help proactively order materials. You'll help clean the lab/instruments and review patient invoices to make sure all billable items are included. Tackling additional duties as assigned, you'll support our hospital's mission and drive daily success!
