Job DescriptionDescription: 1. BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for the provision of psychiatric care to the adult patients of FCHC in collaboration with the FCHC psychiatrist. INTRADEPARTMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS: Department Officer: Chief Behavioral Health Officer Reports to: Chief Behavioral Health Officer Supervises: None JOB DESCRIPTION DEPARTMENT: BEHAVIORAL HEALTH JOB TITLE: ADULT PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER ADULT PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER Page 2. III. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: In collaboration with FCHC psychiatrist, provision of psychiatric care to the patients of FCHC, age 18 and above: 1. Assess, diagnose, and treat psychiatric conditions in accordance with evidence-based guidelines., 2. Obtain complete medical/psychiatric history from patient, and/or family, and/or previous medical record, etc., 3. Provide continuity of care to patients needing extended psychiatric care., 4. Provide care with an emphasis on enhancing adherence with therapeutic regimens, self-care and wellness to improve patient outcomes. 5. Order and interpret labs based on clinical guidelines, assess for tardive dyskinesia using the Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale. 6. Communicate treatment plans to patients and families and collaborate with the rest of the treatment team., 7. Provide education and counseling to patients and families in a culturally sensitive manner., 8. Integrate, collaborate, and communicate diagnostic and treatment recommendations within the interdisciplinary team on an ongoing basis. 9. Provide BH consultations, formal and “curbside,” to medical and behavioral health staff., 10. Refer patients requiring hospitalization or assessment and management of conditions to supervising physicians, emergency department physicians or appropriate specialists. 11. Document notes as trained in the EHR in accordance with FCHC policy., 12. Maintain agreed upon level of productivity., 13. Respond to phone calls within 1-2 business days, urgent phone calls within 12 hours., 14. Complete disability questionnaires for psychiatric patients who apply for disability. IV. PERIODIC DUTIES: 1. Participate in BH staff meetings as appropriate., 2. Contributes services to community public health activities as appropriate., 3. Participates in Center work team as needed., 4. Participates in Center staff problem-solving groups., 5. Performs other duties as assigned. V. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Inside Center: All Inclusive. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of nursing required., 2. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Missouri required., 3. Certified as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner., 4. One plus (1+) years of practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner preferred., 5. Work experience or strong desire to work in urban community health setting preferred., 6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. VII. CONTINUING EDUCATION: 1. Active professional development as demonstrated through attendance of seminars, continued education programs, etc. is strongly encouraged. 2. Current membership and active participation in A.N.A. and A.P.H.A. encouraged. IX. CONFIDENTIALITY: Respect for and maintenance of client and staff confidentiality is required.
