About the Role As a Security Systems Estimator/Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery of integrated security solutions, working closely with internal engineering teams, installation personnel, and clients both in the office and on-site. This role is responsible for guiding projects from concept through completion, beginning with customer needs assessment, bid and specification review, and pre-sales estimating, through to proposal development and submission. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams in fast-paced project environments, • Review bid documents, specifications, blueprints, schematics, and project schedules to accurately interpret project scope and requirements, • Lead meetings with end users to assess security needs and inform accurate project estimating, • Conduct site visits to validate that estimated solutions align with construction means, methods, and site conditions, • Perform precise quantity take-offs and input data into estimating software to generate comprehensive multi-scope estimates from conceptual designs, • Actively participate in estimate and bid reviews with the technologies team to ensure accuracy and alignment with project goals, • Prepare clear, detailed proposals and scope narratives; coordinate and review subcontractor and vendor bid packages, • Collaborate with CAD, BIM, and construction teams to generate project installation documentation, • Understand technical system requirements and foundational networking protocols to support system integration, • Demonstrate working knowledge of TCP/IP routing, switching, and wireless communication technologies, • Possess general familiarity with commissioning processes and relevant security system software (field commissioning conducted by designated personnel), • Contribute to the design and development of fully integrated electronic security systems, • Pursue and maintain certifications in key technology platforms, such as Lenel-S2, Motorola/Avigilon, Genetec, Milestone, Axis-2N, Hanwha, and Bosch, • Stay current with evolving technologies and demonstrate a proactive willingness to quickly learn new platforms and tools In this role, you will have the opportunity to: • Tackle problems efficiently by identifying issues early and resolving them in a timely, thoughtful manner, • Strengthen technical expertise through continuous learning, skills development, and training opportunities, • Communicate effectively and persuasively in both verbal and written formats; deliver information clearly in English across diverse situations, • Uphold high quality standards by performing work with accuracy and thoroughness while actively seeking opportunities for process improvements, • Foster a collaborative, positive team culture by contributing to shared goals and uplifting team spirit, • Deliver outstanding customer service by responding promptly and professionally to requests for bids and meeting commitments and deadlines, • Apply strong organizational skills to manage shifting priorities and multiple projects with efficiency and composure, • Demonstrate reliability and consistency by following direction, honoring commitments, and maintaining punctual attendance We are looking for someone with the following competencies: • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the security industry working with systems such as access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, and intercom, • Preference given to candidates with 3+ additional years of hands-on field installation experience, • Strong understanding of integrated security system design and functionality is preferred, • Skilled in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business publications, technical procedures, professional journals, and regulatory documents, • Capable of writing clear reports, business correspondence, and technical summaries, • Proficient in basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, • Able to apply sound judgment and follow written, verbal, and diagrammatic instructions, • Intermediate to expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and estimating software, • Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Visio, CAD, and Accubid Anywhere is considered a plus, • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes preferred, • Preference for candidates certified in manufacturer platforms such as Lenel-S2, Motorola/Avigilon, Genetec, Milestone, Hanwha, Bosch, or similar, • No supervisory responsibilities associated with this role, • Frequently lifts/moves up to 10 lbs; occasionally up to 25 lbs, • Visual abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment, • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, reach, handle materials, and communicate effectively, • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to access equipment or job sites, • Typically works in a moderate noise environment, with occasional exposure to active project or jobsite conditions, • Reasonable accommodations available to support qualified individuals with disabilities in performing essential job functions Why Cochran?
