The Auto Paint Depot – Deer Park, NY Pay: $19.00–$22.00 per hour Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Saturday availability | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Occasional Sundays may be required About The Auto Paint Depot The Auto Paint Depot is a growing automotive paint and supplies company located in Deer Park, NY. We specialize in custom-mixed automotive paint, touch-up paint, professional automotive refinishing products, and online order fulfillment for customers throughout the United States. We are looking for a dependable, organized, customer-focused person to join our team and become an important part of our front counter and customer service operation. This is not simply a receptionist position. You will work directly with customers in our store, by phone, and online. You will help customers place orders, answer questions, research existing orders, and help resolve problems when they occur. We are willing to train the right person, but reliability, professionalism, communication skills, and the ability to learn are extremely important. What You'll Do Your responsibilities will include: • Greet and assist customers at our front counter, • Answer incoming customer phone calls, • Respond professionally to customer emails and online inquiries, • Help customers place orders and select appropriate products, • Ring up in-store purchases and process customer transactions, • Create and review customer orders and invoices, • Look up order status and tracking information, • Help resolve shipping, damaged-order, return, refund, and order-related issues, • Assist customers with automotive paint and color-match questions, • Communicate with customers when additional information is needed to complete or correct an order, • Work with orders from our website and online marketplaces, • Use systems including email, WooCommerce, Amazon, eBay, ShipStation, POS software, and other business applications, • Keep accurate notes and records of customer issues and resolutions, • Follow up with customers when a problem requires additional attention, • Stock merchandise and help keep the front counter, showroom, and customer areas organized, • Assist other team members when needed, • Perform light lifting and remain on your feet during portions of the workday Who We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is: • Reliable and punctual, • Friendly, patient, and professional with customers, • Comfortable speaking with customers face-to-face and over the phone, • Able to communicate clearly through email, • Comfortable using computers and learning new software, • Organized and able to handle multiple tasks at the same time, • Able to follow instructions and established procedures, • Able to take ownership of a customer problem and follow it through to resolution, • Comfortable working in a busy small-business environment where priorities can change throughout the day, • Willing to learn about automotive paint, products, paint codes, and our ordering systems, • Able to work independently without needing constant supervision, • A team player who is willing to help wherever needed Qualifications Customer service and/or retail experience is preferred. Automotive, auto body, automotive paint, parts-counter, collision-industry, or similar experience is a strong plus, but we are willing to train a dependable candidate who is eager to learn. Experience with e-commerce, Amazon, eBay, WooCommerce, ShipStation, POS systems, or online customer service is also a plus. Spanish/English bilingual ability is a plus. Basic computer and email skills are required. Schedule & Availability This position requires availability Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Some Weekends may occasionally be required depending on business needs. Saturday availability 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Please apply only if you can reliably meet the scheduling requirements of this position. Compensation & Benefits • $19.00–$22.00 per hour, • Full-time position, • 1 week paid time off (PTO), • 1 week sick time, • Major holidays off and paid, • On-the-job training, • Opportunity to learn the automotive paint and refinishing industry, • Opportunity to grow with an established local and e-commerce business A Successful Person in This Position The right person doesn't need to know everything about automotive paint on day one. What matters most is that you show up consistently, arrive on time, communicate professionally, pay attention to details, learn from training, and genuinely try to help customers. When a customer has a problem, we don't want someone who simply says, "I don't know." We want someone who will find out what happened, communicate with the customer, ask for help when necessary, and work toward a solution. If you're dependable, comfortable working with people and computers, enjoy solving problems, and want a position where you can learn and take on responsibility, we'd like to hear from you. When Applying Please include a short response to the following question with your application: A customer contacts us and says the automotive paint they received doesn't match their vehicle. They are frustrated and want the problem fixed. How would you handle the situation? We're not looking for automotive paint expertise in your answer. We want to understand how you communicate, think through a problem, and take care of a customer.
