Job Description Job Title: New Construction Plumber Job Description This role combines hands-on installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing and piping systems with the ability to read and interpret technical documentation. The technician installs and services water, gas, and drainage systems, fits plumbing fixtures, and designs and lays out complex piping systems using blueprints and building codes. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and experience working with a wide range of tools and equipment in construction, field service, and industrial environments. Responsibilities • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and building codes to plan plumbing and piping installations., • Install and repair water, gas, and drainage systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings., • Fit and install plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and water heaters according to specifications., • Inspect and test plumbing systems for leaks, proper function, and compliance with applicable standards., • Clear clogged drains, repair broken pipes, and restore proper system operation., • Maintain septic systems and ensure all work complies with relevant safety and environmental standards., • Design and lay out complex piping systems based on blueprints and project requirements., • Cut, thread, weld, and install pipes to precise measurements and specifications., • Secure pipes to fixtures and structures using clamps, brackets, or welding techniques., • Test piping systems for leaks and verify pressure integrity using appropriate tools and methods., • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to coordinate installation, maintenance, and repair activities., • Maintain and repair high-pressure piping systems in power plants or manufacturing facilities., • Perform preventive maintenance and field service tasks to reduce downtime and extend equipment life., • Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment safely and efficiently to complete assigned work., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and building codes., • Strong mechanical skills with the ability to install, repair, and maintain plumbing and piping systems., • Hands-on experience with installation and repair of water, gas, and drainage systems., • Ability to fit and install plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and water heaters., • Skilled in inspecting and testing plumbing and piping systems for leaks and proper operation., • Ability to design and lay out complex piping systems using blueprints and specifications., • Experience cutting, threading, welding, and installing pipes to precise specifications., • Competence in securing pipes using clamps, brackets, and welding techniques., • Troubleshooting and repair skills for plumbing, HVAC, and related mechanical systems., • Construction and field service experience in installation, repair, and preventive maintenance., • Proficient use of hand tools and power tools for mechanical and plumbing tasks., • Journeyman’s License., • Experience maintaining and repairing high-pressure piping systems in power plants or manufacturing facilities., • Familiarity with HVAC systems and their integration with piping and plumbing work., • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose issues in complex mechanical systems., • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and other team members., • Attention to detail in following specifications, safety guidelines, and quality standards., • Capability to perform preventive maintenance to minimize breakdowns and extend system life. Work Environment The work environment involves hands-on tasks in construction sites, industrial facilities, and field service locations. You will regularly use tools such as cutters, wrenches, soldering equipment, drain cleaning tools, pressure gauges, welding torches, pipe threaders, cutting saws, hydraulic tools, and measuring instruments. Work may include exposure to high-pressure systems, mechanical equipment, and varying site conditions, requiring consistent attention to safety procedures and use of appropriate protective gear. Hours and shifts may vary depending on project needs and field service requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Lexington, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
