Job DescriptionLead AV / Low Voltage TechnicianPosition Overview We're seeking an experienced Lead AV/Cable Technician to support the installation, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of commercial audio visual and low-voltage systems. This individual will serve as a lead technician on customer job sites, working directly with clients while ensuring projects are completed safely, professionally, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience installing AV systems, leading crews, terminating low-voltage cabling, and configuring conferencing technologies. This role requires strong technical skills, professionalism, and the ability to mentor junior technicians in the field. Responsibilities • Lead AV and cable installation projects from start to finish., • Install, configure, and test:, • Video conferencing systems, • Cameras, • Microphones, • Displays and TVs, • Equipment racks, • Control systems, • Configure and troubleshoot AV solutions utilizing:, • Cisco Room Kits, • Extron, • Crestron, • Biamp, • Lead and mentor field technicians while maintaining project schedules., • Install, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling., • Perform punch-downs using 66-block and 110-block termination methods., • Terminate data jacks and support communications room buildouts., • Read and interpret project drawings and scopes of work., • Conduct system testing and quality assurance before project completion., • Troubleshoot AV and low-voltage systems as needed., • Ensure cabling is installed neatly and concealed whenever possible., • Maintain compliance with NEC requirements and industry best practices., • Interact professionally with customers and represent Intellicom on-site.Required Qualifications, • 3+ years of commercial cable installation experience., • Previous experience leading crews or serving as a senior technician., • Hands-on experience with Cisco Room Kits, Extron, Crestron, Biamp, or similar AV platforms., • Strong understanding of low-voltage cabling and installation practices., • Experience terminating and testing copper cabling infrastructure., • Proficiency with:, • Punch-down tools (66 and 110 blades), • Snips, • Cable stripping and termination tools, • Cable testing equipment, • Ability to troubleshoot AV and communication systems independently., • Strong customer service and communication skills., • Professional appearance and demeanor in client-facing environments.Physical Requirements, • Ability to climb and work from 8 to 10-foot ladders., • Ability to lift and move AV equipment and materials., • Ability to work on active construction and customer sites.Additional Requirements, • Reliable transportation to travel to project sites., • Personal laptop available for system configuration and remote support activities., • Ability to submit expenses for reimbursement in accordance with company guidelines.What Makes Someone Successful in This Role Successful technicians are: • Reliable and dependable., • Punctual and prepared for work each day., • Focused and productive on job sites., • Positive team players with strong attitudes., • Committed to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
