Job DescriptionOrder Picker Job Description The order picker safely moves, loads, and unloads building products using forklifts and other industrial equipment while ensuring orders are accurate, properly secured, and ready for timely delivery. This role reads work orders or follows verbal instructions to determine material requirements, maintains clean and organized storage areas, and performs routine maintenance on power industrial trucks in a busy lumber yard environment. Responsibilities • Read work orders and follow verbal instructions to determine work assignments, materials, and equipment needed., • Operate a motorized forklift and other industrial trucks to move, load, and unload packages, products, and building materials to designated areas., • Manually transport building products to ensure timely and complete delivery of customer orders., • Count finished products to verify that product orders are accurate and complete., • Bundle products according to prescribed procedures for further processing or shipment., • Install protective devices, bracing, or strapping to prevent shifting or damage to items during transport., • Load and unload trucks and railcars in the wall department, including working outdoors as needed., • Pick and stage orders accurately for shipment or delivery., • Maintain storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition., • Perform routine maintenance on power industrial trucks, including cleaning, recharging batteries, and fueling., • Provide courteous customer service when interacting face to face with customers, as needed., • Minimum 6+ months of experience in a warehouse, production, or construction environment., • Minimum 6+ months of forklift experience., • Minimum 6+ months of experience working in a non-climate-controlled environment., • Minimum 6+ months of experience in a physically demanding role, consistently lifting up to 75 lbs., • Ability to lift up to 150 lbs occasionally., • Experience with loading and unloading trucks., • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely., • Experience with palletizing and preparing materials for shipment., • Basic shipping and receiving experience., • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically intensive environment., • 6+ months of experience working with lumber or other construction materials and tools., • 6+ months of face-to-face customer service experience., • Ability to read and understand delivery tickets., • Experience as an order picker/packer or in warehouse pick/pack operations., • Experience in warehouse production or similar industrial settings., • Strong attention to detail when counting and verifying orders. Work Environment This position is based in a lumber yard and warehouse environment that is non-climate controlled and can be dusty. You will primarily work in the wall department, spending significant time outdoors loading and unloading trucks and railcars and picking orders. The role is physically demanding, with frequent lifting of up to 75 lbs and occasional lifting up to 150 lbs, as well as regular operation of forklifts and other industrial trucks. The standard schedule is Monday through Thursday from 5:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with additional hours on Fridays and potentially Saturdays depending on workload. The dress code requires jeans, steel-toe footwear, and layered clothing as needed for varying weather conditions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lincoln, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
