Job overview The CNC Machining Manager is responsible for managing the departments day-to-day operations and supplies. The responsibilities of this position include overall direction of daily activities such as hiring, planning, scheduling, automation and manufacturing engineering, organizing, training, production, budget planning and utilization, and equipment maintenance in a diverse manufacturing area. This person will also order raw materials as needed for the machine shop department and assist the Director of Manufacturing in any needed capacity. A significant portion of this role involves being on the production floor, working directly with employees to support operations. The CNC Machining Manager is expected to step in to run a machine when necessary and when time permits, ensuring smooth workflow and maintaining a hands-on understanding of daily shop floor needs. Here are the specifics: • Management duties to include:, • Assign work to teams., • Address employee concerns and performance., • Recruit prospective team members., • Foster training and development of team members., • Complete quarterly performance reviews., • Foster a safe working environment by maintaining and implementing safety standards., • Manages, develops, and executes assigned budget., • Approve timecards and time off requests., • Manufacturing engineering duties, analyze production processes, production schedules and methods to increase efficiency., • Review and calculate labor and monitor production costs., • Review schedules and future production requirements to plan workloads., • Order raw materials as needed within the Machine Shop, ensuring that the Machine Shop has the needed materials to complete the work., • Perform quarterly performance reviews along with the CNC Team Leads, monitoring and evaluating individual team members, training and coaching team members on core competencies and performance metrics., • Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency., • Designing, implementing, and reviewing the procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process., • Researching automation techniques, testing new systems for efficiency, and optimizing production., • Responsible for strategic management, day to day operations, and maintaining a fully capable, stable team to meet goals of the department., • Balancing and budgeting costs ensuring production needs and cost goals are met., • Initiate and coordinate inventory cost control programs to meet company objectives., • Support new product development through superior technical expertise and precision manufacturing methods., • Ensure that parts are built to specifications and meet Speedway Motors quality standards., • Follow established Speedway Motors and OSHA safety policies and procedures., • Facilitate the appropriate machine maintenance in the shop or coordinate repairs on equipment as needed., • Consistently meets customers expectations for delivery, quality, and value., • Constantly work to improve processes; make suggestions for productivity improvements, and optimize team member workflow, while continuing to meet our customers needs., • Embrace and live out Speedway Motors core values., • Represent the company positively through your leadership and decision-making., • Help implement and promote key initiatives that support our goals and long-term success., • Maintain regular and reliable attendance., • Perform other duties as assigned. What youll need to succeed in this position: • Associates degree in machining or manufacturing, plus 9 years of experience in management of people and/or projects in a manufacturing facility. Experience may substitute for education on for a year for year basis., • Must be able to read technical manuals, blueprints and various maintenance and repair documents., • Must have good critical thinking skills, have excellent oral and written communication skills., • Proficient with CNC controlled equipment, and a variety of other machining, welding, fabrication and some assembly equipment., • Ability to manage and motivate team members in a diverse manufacturing environment., • Familiarity with computer and Microsoft Office products including Excel, Outlook and Word., • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing, CNC manufacturing methods and tools as well as SolidWorks CAD program and other related softwares used in the manufacturing environment., • Is knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of machine shop operations and familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures., • Must support and follow established safety policies and procedures.
