Job Description: This role will require engineering team management experience in renewable energy projects, particularly large-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects. The candidate will perform a variety of assignments requiring the application of electrical engineering and design techniques for large-scale solar PV, wind, and battery energy storage projects, and be familiar with HV engineering. The role will be to provide responsive, diligent, and collaborative support to our clients in the renewable energy industry. Duties: • Lead and review the electrical design of large-scale renewable energy power plants., • Perform and review electrical studies:, • Short circuit, • Arc flash, • Protection coordination, • Insulation coordination studies, • Grounding studies, • Ampacity studies, • Perform and review load flow studies (voltage drop, losses, reactive power needs), • Perform and review string length calculations, maximum source current, and energy yield analysis, • Draft and review of cable schedules (DC, AC LV, AC MV), • Draft and review bill of quantities and materials, • Review construction drawings, calculations, and studies completed by the Electrical Group members under his/her supervision, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards, project specifications, and maintaining TYPSA´s standards and consistency., • Coordinate with other design disciplines (Civil & Structural Engineering Groups) for effective project design., • Support construction of the project by responding to contractor and owner requests, including RFIs and submittal reviews, • Managing, mentoring, and performance monitoring of the Electrical Group team members. Planning assigned resources per project schedule and budget in an effective manner. Distributing workload and proposing workflow improvements in the context of the Energy Practice., • Identify, evaluate, select, and monitor qualified subcontractors, • Manage specific projects and clients in the context of the Energy Practice. Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills): • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, • PE (Electrical) certification is required, • Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated electrical design experience, with a minimum of three (3) years managing engineering teams, • Demonstrated knowledge of NEC 2023, 2020 & 2017, • AC (LV and MV) and DC electrical knowledge required, solar project experience preferred, • HV, substation, and overhead line design experience is a plus, • Strong project management, reporting, and technical skills as well as attention to detail, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, • Proficient in industry-standard electrical engineering tools (ETAP, XGSLab, DigSilent, AUTOCAD, etc.), • Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier Competencies (To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies): • Communicative – interacts openly with others; can maintain relationships, works well independently or with a team., • Consultative - Consults with other disciplines as needed; tolerates different perspectives or opinions., • Decisive & Action Oriented - Has a high level of energy and stamina; gets things done; makes sound educated but rapid decisions even when short of information; enjoys managing challenging projects and works well in fast-paced and pressure environments. Working Conditions and Environment:This position will require general supervision and will have to use independent judgment within established guidelines. Generally uses the advanced knowledge to analyze, interpret, or make deductions from varying facts or circumstances. Will need the ability to establish rapport quickly with others working on the same project, and be able to promote a positive team environment.
