Job Description What your day looks like Start your day at 7:30am, Monday to Friday (wrap at 4:00pm, overtime as needed). You’ll move from preventive maintenance to complex repairs on utility fleet assets—boom/bucket trucks, roll-off/refuse units, and forestry/tree-trimming equipment—keeping essential vehicles safe, reliable, and work-ready. Day-to-day work • Perform Truck Chassis PM’s, routine service, and repair on medium/heavy-duty vocational trucks., • Handle chassis prep and upfit: attaching, bolting, welding, hydraulic plumbing, and electrical wiring., • Work from blueprints/schematics; set up and service cylinders, hoses, and PTO’s., • Diagnose electrical systems using schematics, a multimeter, and CANbus diagnostics., • Assess, diagnose, repair, and replace damaged/worn parts across multiple manufacturers of utility equipment to meet quality standards., • Accurately record parts, services, and labor to track costs, ensuring vehicles are priced to reflect the quality delivered., • Submit all work/repair orders to a supervisor for approval so budgets are maintained and repair costs are accurately reflected., • Work safely and participate in monthly safety meetings held by Custom Truck One Source., • Other duties as required. Minimum qualifications, • High school diploma or equivalent., • Hands-on experience with diesel, medium/heavy trucks, or related equipment (construction, farm, or military)., • General mechanical aptitude with exposure to hydraulic and electrical systems., • Basic computer skills with the ability to document repair activity., • Valid driver’s license., • Personal set of mechanic’s tools. Preferred background, • Vocational Technical School or Military Wheeled Mechanic training (or related) is a plus., • 3+ years maintaining and repairing Utility Trucks and Equipment. Physical demands, • Able to move objects and tools; frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling with a high level of manual dexterity.
